agree 100% - thought the same during the game that this isn't just a good patch, this looks like the norm now

I don't think you can even put it down to an international hangover because we played pretty well, it was just our finishing that cost us. We dominated a good Southampton side at home, Firmino bags that chance and we're all good, it really was a poor finish.

I didn't see it and from reading reports we did pretty well. I just think our Achilles heel is our inability to be clinical. We've seen it before and I think with this set up and current first choice team it will continue to be the case. When you don't have dedicated finishers in your team you will miss them. But by playing like we do, we do well enough most of the time. It's a tricky one.

          This

Today was always going to be tough but we've a great run ahead of us and no poxy internationals to **** up our rhythm.

Agreed. Was frustrating cos we should have won, were the only team trying to win and missed some great chances, but we'll look back on it as a good point. No team ever wins every week.

Very happy with the performance and maybe even the result. Horrid internationals over. Walking wounded not as bad as originally feared.

That may be true today, but it's hardly symptomatic. We have scored 30 odd goals already this season?

And we've been getting 4's and 6's most weeks.

I'm not so sure about that, the league is going to be really tight around the top 4 or 5 positions. Chelsea are winning every week at the moment and will go ahead of us tomorrow. We need to be taking three points when we're so much on top of a game. We should win every game until the derby now, arguably until City on NYE, and if we do then this point will have been ok, but if we don't then I'll feel quite differently.

so many good chances in the second half. coutinho/firmino 1 on 1's, matips headers, and chances for can and clyne to their 1 chance with austin

Yep, our off days now are dominating the whole game, the oppo not having a chance and getting a draw. It's not bad!

Weren't even at our best and we've still got oppo players saying stuff like this!!

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg reflected on Southampton's draw with Liverpool, and declared the Reds as the best team he has ever faced.

The midfielder was delighted to have held the Premier League leaders to a 0-0 stalemate at St Mary's, and it was an achievement he was even more pleased with given the quality of the opposition.

"It's not only that they move the ball quickly," said Højbjerg. "They also have fast players, and with the ball they are very good one against one.

"I played in Germany against Bayern Munich and Dortmund, I played against Manchester City in the Champions League, but I must say this is maybe the best team I have ever played against.

"It's unbelievable how they move, how they stand, how they work together – it's like a symphony.
