    100% yes.

athleticism and ability are very important obviously, but goalkeepers need a mental toughness and big bollocks.
they need to train on raw meat and axe throwing.

I still say Dudek never recovered from an absolutely terrible World Cup with Poland in 2002. He came back from that a shell, after a pretty strong first season.

Jeez that's a horrendous list of keepers though granted the majority are second/third choice

Most under rated keeper in the league until he went **** and every cunt did a told you so.
You could argue the guys in front of him were the problem.

          He was always class.

reina was a decent keeper for us but didnt his form suffer when the gk coach left.

which one was it, ochotorena or valero?

also noticed torres said that valero helped him as a striker as he made him understand better what the goalie is likely to do.

i was very surprised that klopp decided to keep achterberg.

Xavi Valero who followed Riena to Napoli. He's retired.

Most of those keepers were 2nd or 3rd choice, some of the I don't even think have played a competitive game, going back you are looking at first choice keepers and the years that they were 1st choice (from memory so apologies if have some wrong)

                  Karius (2016-
                  Mignolet (2013-2016)
                  Reina (2005-2013)
                  Dudek (2001-2005)
                  Westerveld (1999-2001)
                  James (1993-1999)
                  Grobbelaar (1981-1993)
                  Clemence (1971-1981)

Clemence I never saw but I believe he was an excellent goalkeeper. Grobbelaar was also and excellent keeper, Reina I really liked as well.

James I thought was a decent keeper, he put in some very good performances and made some great saves the problem was he just had some high profile dodgy moments and went to pieces after that, and that is ultimately what he is remembered for.

The rest of those listed mostly fall into the category of ok but nothing special, ultimately not good enough and had a few years as first choice before being moved on. Most of those missed out barely need a mention some were decent options as back ups some got far too close to the first team.

I have thought for a long time that part of the problem is our coaching of GKs

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                    That's him. Valero.

Bid for Lloris - presumably he's not 100% happy about Levy's (reported) stance over a new contract?

Wonder what he would realistically cost.

he has been with us since 2009 [first team gk coach since 2011] and you have to wonder how he has drained other keepers of the will to live.
I know a few people who are in League's 2 and 1 and have spent time in the championship, pretty much all have commented on how out of his depth he is and are surprised how he got a job here and how he has remained. He's supposed to be a nice enough fella but he's practically learning on the job.

There are a few other coaches that aren't very highly regarded by others in the game at Liverpool, but he seems to get the most mentions.

I remember watching Westerveld's first game for us. After Calamity I was desperate for someone reliable. When he rsn on the pitch he looked reliable. He looked reliable as he pranced around. I started to relax and then he made an absolute howler and it dawned on me that we had bought another dog.

Clemence and Brucie were seriously good keepers, tho Brucie had to be to make up for the times he lost the ball down the wings!

Yes, Electric Sander didn't quite live up to his billing. His kicking was ok though.

Ray Clemence was top draw and the best keeper we have ever had by a country mile

Grobbelar was great but lacked Clems consistency and was prone to the odd moment of madness

Reina was decent most of the time

Jerzy despite his flaws is up their for that night in Istanbul alone!!

Basically that shows that the only decent keeper we've had since Brucie is Reina.

James was a great shot stopper but awful at commanding his box for such a big guy!

Dudek is definitely not up there just fior Istanbul He will go down in the LFC hall of fame for his penalty shoot out antics and saves though

Seriously though, 1 decent keeper since Grobbelar is absolutely shocking.
