Overall I am happy with the result. Scum are away to Spurs, City, Arsenal and are home to Chelsea so they shouldn't get carried away about top 4 being in their hands

that lallana miss gif at the top of the thread, who was the attacker outside the box on the right?
was it dereck. should have been running in to pick up the dregs there, ballwatcher, not a striker with a killer instinct.

I agree. Don't get me wrong I think Firmino is a cracking player but he often misses vital chances in big moments of game.

What they keep forgetting is even if Utd win some or all of those top 8 games it will propel us even higher, provided we start turning up against some of the mid table teams.

Right the dust has settled and a gew thoughts on the game. The neutrals must have loved it and I have no idea how it finished 1-1, the mad thing was it was misses on both sides as opposed to great saves that kept the score down.

The managed the game well in the first half and kept them at bay, once we got on top of them at the start of the 2nd half to echo what Dan said if we had a clinical striker we'd have got a couple more. Firmino missed a big chance when one in one and obviously the Lallana miss.

They have too many good players so they were always going to get on top - De Bruyne is leathal from set pieces and open play and Milner couldn't get close enough to him to stop the crosses into the box. They have searing pace and Sane is starting to develop nicely for them whereas Raheem had another quiet game vs us. Yaya is finished and should have been sent off.

                  Onto the players:

Mignolet - no blame for the goal and did well in general. He terrifies me with the ball at his feet.

Milner - we need a new LB, it would add so much to the team. So may attacks came down his side and he couldn't stop the balling getting crossed.

Clyne - solid defensively but poor with the ball going forward.

Matip - played pretty well after a few dodgy games recently.

Klavan - should be the 4th choice CB and was poor for the goal and had a few other close shaves. One time he ran out and missed the ball and they were almost in! A new starting CB is essential in the summer.

Can - excellent, a run of injury free games and he is growing again. Not sure if the DM is his best spot as he charges around and might not be disciplined enough for there.

Gini - quietly efficient again, never loses the ball.

Lallana - what an engine and was effective snuffing out chances for them. What a MISS though.

Bobby - worked hard but missed a one in one that might have killed the game. Lacazette would be superb up front for us - we make some amount if chances when we are 'on it'.

Phil - is off form since he got back from injury.

Mane - superb, pace, effort and for a small guy he wins some amount if headers. We could do with two more of him!

Origi - I have said to be patient with Can but I am starting to wonder about Div. he NEVER wins headers and he is a big lad and I saw him walk around rather than press and was outpaced by Otamendi a few times. I know he is young but he needs to work harder.

All in all - take the point and run. Now beat the ****e and we'll get top 4.

I thought Origi was fast. Has him bulking up taken from his pace?

Completely agree. If this is the moment I am thinking of, when we broke into attack in the first place, there was nobody down the right hand channel in front of him to defend the space. If he ran through he could have been in on goal with no defender in sight, but he seemed to jog the whole time.

Didn't see it unfortunately, sounds like a decent game. Got to be happy with a point. Now need to avoid defeat against everton and try and win the rest.

How did Can do? I think he plays better after a run of games and not playing alongside Henderson.

In my opinion, Can was excellent and co-ordinated pressing and passing well with Wijnaldum.

Played very well, composed and strong on the ball.

Charged forward a lot, spread lovely passes including one for the penalty.

Still vacated his position a few times mind but he worked hard in pressing, didn't dive in, tackled well when he had to and also gave away some cynical fouls to break the play.

Played well. I'd like to see him try some more passes across the floor mind, he always goes for the chip or one over the top.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Happy to take a point but oh boy Lallana must be kicking himself for that miss.

Like Klopp, a little disappointed that we didn’t win, but happy enough with a point.

Good time to play City. With no European distractions, I’ll be surprised if many more teams leave the Etihad with as much as a point this season.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
