The day HarveyBirdman 'owns' me is the day I take a knife to my wrists and say goodbye to this world.

      Fortunately, neither will ever happen.

I could have made the most profoundly complex and witty comment in the history of this forum's existence, and a one line response from Paul Cooper saying 'your wrong u **** m8' would've elicited a more favourable reaction, over here.

      Tsk.

His Lyon side are virtually unbeatable in Ligue 1, and whilst it's easier when you inherit a side that's just won their 3rd or 4th title on the trot, he's delivering in the CL too.

2-0 in Madrid tonight and sure to top their group, they're also rated by many to be a serious contender in this season's competition.

Not only this, but they also play some very attractive and attacking football, some may argue the compete opposite of what we played during his time on Merseyside.

All this despite generally being what you might call a 'selling club'.

So, being as objective as possible, is Houllier actually a lot better than the last 6-12 months of his LFC reign suggests?

And if so, what went wrong for him at LFC, and why hasnt it gone similarly wrong at Lyon?

Didn't Lyon hammer Madrid 4-0 before Houllier took over aswell, at a time when Madrid were considered the best in europe??! to be honest, taking over a team that has just won 4 consecutive titles and were already doing well in the CL has to be the easiest job in football by a mile. He blew a fortune and took us further away from winning the title than when Evans was in charge. It won't be long until he starts to make some major purchases, falls out with the best players and drags Lyon right back down in his own inimitable style. I'd bet my house on it.

I think Houliier is a good manager but is not in the same class as rafa,I am surprised how well he has done but you have to give him credit he has lost two big players and you wouldnt notice by watching them.If mouriniho gets all the credit for what has happened at chelsea when claudio bought most of the best players then you have to give gerrad credit.

Carew was amazing last night and madrid couldnt handle him but i wouldnt want him here because he never does it on a consistent basis and is prone to an injury.

These sort of results are simply not acceptable and it has made me doubt Rafa for the first time since he was appointed.
I'm hoping we've had the heavier defeats because the attacking game is inherently more risky when you don't get it right. When we get it right, the opponents will be too busy defending to score. I worry that some of our players still aren't skilful enough to play Rafa's game.

Houllier will make a great manager for Newcastle. the use of the word "will" is highly relevant.
