I’m going to be a pedant. The book and film were written and based in Edinburgh. The character is from Leith in Edinburgh and Ewan McGregor is from Perth. Though some scenes were filmed in Glasgow that scene is filmed on Calton Road in Edinburgh after a chase along Prices St in Edinburgh.

Incidentally I paid for my first ever pint in the sadly no longer in existence Venue on Calton Road when I was 14.
