Thing is... He has run himself into.the ground under Klopp with no cover, and his body just isnt capqble of playing like that anymore.

But all of a sudden we are playing low energy stuff, and he isnt playing every week... im not adverse to him staying as our defence lacks experience.

If Beck is ready to step up then fair enough. Otherwise I am hapoy for him to stay a while longer

Spurs open talks to sign Liverpool's Robertson

Tottenham have begun talks with Liverpool in an effort to sign left-back Andy Robertson.

Robertson, 31, is out of contract at Anfield in the summer and said last week that he was undecided on his future.

The Scotland international has started just four times in the Premier League this season and wants regular involvement before the World Cup.

BBC Sport understands Spurs have made an approach but no outcome has been reached at this stage.

Liverpool signed Robertson from Hull City for £8m in 2017 during Jurgen Klopp's reign and he has made 363 appearances for the Reds.

Robertson's most recent appearance came from the bench in the 1-1 draw against Burnley on 17 January.

Before that game, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot said Robertson had been "important" to the club and praised him for the way he has handled losing his starting position to summer signing Milos Kerkez.

Hungary international Kerkez would be the only senior left-back for Slot to call on if Robertson is sold, but Liverpool could look to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at Roma.

Tottenham completed the signing of Brazilian left-back Souza on Thursday and are already well stocked in that area of the field.

Destiny Udogie has been the preferred choice of manager Thomas Frank this season, with Djed Spence also offering cover.

Ben Davies was another option, but the Wales international sustained a broken ankle on Sunday and has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Spurs' move for Robertson could be a bid to add experience to a young squad, with 32-year-old Davies the only player over the age of 30.

Robertson has won nine trophies during his time at Liverpool, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Would be risky to sell him now imo.....especially considering that we'd only get a million or two for.him, whereas an injury to Kerkez and we are then screwed.

For me, it would only make sense if we were signing a player ourselves. Would be lovely if this was a part exchange for Micky VdV

As said in the Transfer chat - he’ll go, free up home grown spot which Tsimi will take and the club will consider it a wash. Seems we are keeping our powder dry again

VDV is quite injury prone and Spurs would want an absolute fortune for him

Nah, it's only fair, he wants to play. Kostas will come back and is a reasonable backup.

He’s never really let us down and is happy in that role. Plus Kerkez has settled now and is improving each game and Slot was happy to play Kostas last season.

I hope he punches Arne on the way out. His treatment like a number of the others in the squad has been poor. Especially when you consider just how good he's been for us. Kerkez is looking better now but to get bombed out on the opening day was disrespectful. If the new lad had hit the ground running there would get half an argument. Robbo deserves a standing ovation on the final home game, not to go like this.

I can see why he might want to go and get game time. I can see that the club might get a few quid rather than let him leave for free in the summer, presumably if this happens we'd recall Tsimikas? As without him we'd have only one LB option. But Robbo is an emergency CB option and Tsimikas isn't so I'd still be concerned at our lack of defensive depth.

If he goes all the best to him, he'll always be a legend, but it will be sad to see him go.

The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
