I wouldn't be surprised if that just becomes a numbers game then. Our full backs effectively wingers, and our wingers more located in the box. And maybe an extra forward on in place of a midfielder as well. If we have a fit sturridge, firmino, salah, mane, coutinho all on the pitch - plus with 2 full backs camped in the opposition half - then there will be enough fire power to win most games. And that isn't counting Solanke, Origi and maybe even Ings as bench options. Plus we have young Woodburn looking to be in the conversation too.Originally posted by BobTheCharmer View PostWill be interesting if we have a plan in place, or if it will be more of the same. Most teams will turn up, rightly, with everyone behind the ball. I just don't see where the extra pace and movement will help. Anfield is a narrow pitch, there just isn't much room to work in.
I just look at our squad and i think there is still a little bit of improvement in every player. I don't think the majority of our team have even gone near to hitting their peak yet. It could be a very exciting season.

I didn't get to see the game, just watched some highlights. Mane & Salah
how did grujic & kent get on? If those two were to actually play like they have been in pre-season, the bench looks a lot stronger.
Still have a feeling that Kent will be shipped out on loan somewhere but if he's content to be 5th choice winger for 2 positions then he could be needed when injuries start to take their inevitable toll later on in the season.Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

I think there may still be a chance of Kent leaving on loan, and Klopp favouring the use of Sturridge, Solanke and Origi in fluid front three. It wouldn't be ideal, as I'd prefer us to have a direct winger, but if we don't sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, then I think that Kent has another week to impress Klopp, and keep him as a back-up winger, rather than sending him on loan to Leeds.

I think we've got one in Gomez. VVD, although a good player, for me would be a bit of a waste of a lot of money that we could spend elsewhere. I have a feeling that if Gomez hadn't suffered his serious injury in 2015 we wouldn't even be looking for a central defender.Originally posted by Fredo View PostWe're okay with squad depth. We need a quality centre half, but other than that we're good. Robertson, Solanke and Salah has improved it and if you add Ings and Sturridge if they keep themselves fit, then we're a match for anybody. We need luck with injuries, but every team needs it.
It says a lot if Klopp is happy to sit tight for his first choice targets without panicking.

What makes you say that? We're talking about a player who played 5 games at LB two years ago before getting injured for a year and a half, after which he's never played a competitive game for us again. This summer he was tested as a RB, but he's injured now anyway. Compare that to having Van Dijk as your CB optionOriginally posted by Infadel View PostI think we've got one in Gomez. I think we're a club that essentially wants to win something, not just produce players and sell them onwards, right? I like how we have all these talented youngsters here, but it's time to finaly spend on some quality first teamers. Yesterday somebody put it down as a golden generation or something - yeah, I think we're really, really close to having that now, just need to bring in a top player or two.

VVD is an absolute game changer for us if we get him.Originally posted by Infadel View PostI think we've got one in Gomez. Gomez is not even close to his level yet.

He looks like he COULD be awesome, but that's it at presentOriginally posted by Infadel View PostI think we've got one in Gomez. VVD is horrifically overpriced, but he's also almost certainly the best defender in the PL and perfect for Klopp
If we get him in, plus another central midfielder, we'll be in great shape
Oxlade Chamberlain would be perfect as can cover both centrally and wideI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet
