He did love us though, before his stock rose to insane levels. He went to the chippy, was happy to be part of the odd photo shoot and allowed his image to be painted on wall everywhere

His agent has orchestrated the stalemate, he's just daft enough not to see another route

Likely, but I cling on to some vague hope that he will sign an extension to give us another year and we can then cash in next year.

Nah Norbs, it isn't Abbas, its all on Salah, there are a few articles out there that claim Salah is the one pushing things not Abbas. Abbas is the legal conduit.
I make no apologies, this is me

Ah fair enough. What's clicked in Salah's head that's me his decision seemly so irrational

Dunno pal, but from the articles Salah has been in control since leaving Chelsea for Florentina

We should have put the Henderson rise + extension money in the Salah pot if we're going to gamble on a juiced up deal. Can't leave ourselves potentially exposed to too many aging players with rapidly diminishing returns on mega-contracts that can't be moved.

I don't know the facts in this particular case, but I DO know that some players contracts are negotiated by lawyers and some by accountants - so the fact he is a lawyer might not mean that he is just a conduit.

Surely what we need to do is to make sure the Club remembers Mo's birthday and gets him a cake. Man City made that mistake with Toure and that cost them dear.

Maybe we need also to insist he is part of the leadership team, even if that means the whole squad has to be.

Not sure that would have achieved much - the whole point is that we have a wage structure that we aren't willing to break. It's not that we're short of money.

No one really wants to move though it seems, which is a great position to be in. We seem to be moving more towards keeping players until their contract runs out, rather than being desperate to sell and recoup funds, which is quite interesting

it is an interesting way to do things all right. i've got an FM save with wolfsburg where i'm trying to keep the wage structure together and it's actually been an oddly eye-opening experience. i have to sell if i want to spend big money and i have to work hard to coach the players i have and i have a new appreciation for this way of operating.

I like Jose Enriques idea - pay him a 10m bonus on top of the existing contract. So, technically we haven't broken the wage structure
