    I think we will keep hold of him as long as he wants to stay. I could see us turning down bids of that amount if he was happy here.

    I think if we carry on our upward trajectory, I would hope he sees no reason to leave.

      He should never be sold, should never, ever be on the agenda. 200m or 500m, doesn't matter, if you get your version of Messi then you keep him. If he wanted to run his contract down one day and go then fine, we can't stop that but until then he never leaves. If he's ever sold then we simply have to force every ****house involved in the deal out of the club.

          Same. Although that's only because they could cash in later ala Coutinho. At 25 he had time on his side to stay for 2-3 years and still get a massive fee.

          From a fan POV he's a massive difference maker and a special team could be created around him.

              What if, like Coutinho, he wants to leave and gets mysterious illnesses and aches every transfer window? Do we still keep hold of him then?

                    if we can take salah to the CL final and we also continue to add some quality then why would he ever want to leave.
                    there even a falafel place opening on oakfield road so he's going to be well sorted.
                    removing all the weak links makes us stronger

                      When it comes to Barca/Real it doesn't matter how good we are doing. We could win the title and the Champions League in the same season and most players will still jump at the chance to move to Barca/Real. That's just the allure they have. It's unavoidable really.

                              He has to stay for one more season one would think. To blow 200 million based upon one outstanding season would seem a bit too absurd.

                                God knows what Dan did but the posters who dislike him really don't hold back. It's makes tough reading, and I've seen worse in the chat rooms written about him. FWIW he deals with it with a huge amount of dignity
