Hes more tightly marked this season but hes been at a lower level than last seasonOriginally posted by gratziani View PostAnyone feel like he is playing at his normal level when last season was worldy form
If he hit 20 goals last season there would be no worries about this season but because he was brilliant in his first season being unfairly compared to last.
A few games this season hes got close to that level of last season but generally he has been below par
I think it was mentioned in another thread but our forwards have become more selfish and this has meant that the free-flowing football is a bit disjointed as players are holding the ball too long or are making selfish decisions whereas last season more often than not they were not doing thisBob Paisley - "This club has been my life. Thing is he has 17 goals and Mane 14 goals , that is a very good return when you look at 18 being top of the pileOriginally posted by Lecter View PostHes more tightly marked this season but hes been at a lower level than last season

It is like we expect these two to score 30 plus goals when others needs to chip in and take pressure off.

Out of interest.... what teams have his goals come against? He is doing well with the amount of goals but his performances for a lot of games has been poor.
He kicks the ball at defenders like he thinks its gonna magically go through them. His touch has been shocking for the most part. He is very very predictable coming in on his left. He has no right foot whatsover... I think its actually a wet lettuce in his boot.
The one thing we can say though is he gets himself in good positions and gets himself opportunities... he is just ****ing them up a lot more than last season. And if i remember correctly his conversion rate was not the best last year (chances to goals).
The midfields return of goals has also been nothing short of awful. Think the midfield have contributed 5 goals between them? So there is a lot of pressure on Mo to do it all for us.

Not sure where he has scored but he has failed to score against Spurs, Chelsea, Man City, Everton, PSG, Bayern and Man Utd this season... Not happening in the big games for Mo this seasonOriginally posted by Havors View PostOut of interest.... what teams have his goals come against? In reality last season for Mo was amazing. But he is still brilliant. Had Luis Suarez stayed with LFC, then he would have been great but it's unlikely he would have been able to replicate that amazing season again.
This season, we have changed the way we play. We are a lot more defensive now. That is the truth.
So yes, when Mo shoots straight at Pickford the other day, we are all thinking "arrrrggghhhh last season that would have been in the top corner". But is that a correct assumption? Or would he have got 4 or 5 of those chances last season and put one of them in the top corner? Whereas now he only gets one or two of those chances.
I personally think this is true.
Also, last season he had either Coutinho or Oxlade behind him also running at opposition defences. This pulled players out of position and created space for Mo to drift into. He doesn't have that now.
I think when Keita gets up to speed - and/or when Oxlade comes back into the team - then Mo will benefit too.

the service to the front men has been largely ****e all season.

The better teams - with the better defendeers - don't give him an inch of space to turn and run at them. They know what he can do. He can still cause big problems by occupying their defenders - which is why Mane has benefitted from the extra attention Mo gets. We need Bobby to score more too...

Even Emre has been a miss for his goals and forward running into the box

And the midfielders almost never run into the box to help support play or even draw the odd defender away to help make space.Originally posted by danperkins View Post

Our midfield has been ****e for years, brilliant attackers (previously) and great defence (currently) are papering over the gaping cracks.
Yeh, top of the league, etc, but to ignore the obvious is head in the sand stuff.Last edited by baitman; 05-03-19, 12:59 PM.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
