That's also true. I guess the positive is that we get him playing for the full length of his contract; the negative is that we turned him into a world beater and we get no cash for our efforts. To get the cash, we would have had to sell last summer...and imagine how that would have gone down...

Yeah, i think the upside if he runs down his contract should be that he helped us to win the big trophies; we shouldn't focus on the negative of not getting a pay out, but that in the 5 years he has helped elevate LFC back to the top table.

My only hope is that his agent/mo don't dick up his potential exit & taint what would be a fantastic legacy. (i.e. Don't leave with a Owen, Coutinho ****ty exit)

I guess we could just look on actual cost rather than unrealised value. £34m and we have won the PL and CL, largely fuelled by Salah’s brilliance, potentially with more to come.

I think the 'selling club' moniker is losing some of its meaning. Not being a selling club used to mean keeping your best players for as long as you wanted i.e. not being forced to sell. Now, it means keeping them for 4-5 years (full contract) before they leave on a free. It doesn't mean keeping them for as long as you want - since I'm sure we would want to keep Mo for another 3 seasons. Bosman means we can't do that cos the power has shifted towards the player.

Bit worried if we sell Mo and City buy Haaland. Think that will be a big gap in firepower. Firmino and Mane are getting old, and I dont think our front line has quite clicked. Perhaps Diaz or Jota can be that 40+ goal jugganaut. I think we will need one to match city.
