He is an attacking player and he did what he was supposed to do.

If one wants to look at senior players who capitulated and tried to hide when things went wrong then VVD, Roberston, TAA, Gomez, Henderson and Fabinho should be questioned before the one outfield senior player who did his job.

Plenty of those names got recent pay rises. Did not see any game raisers amongst them.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Not sure Vvd did a lot wrong, tbh.

Really? He's pretty much backed away from attackers all season. His form is ****e. I think he's finished. We'll the version we are used to. This is like a 3rd tier virgil.

He's literally been at Madrid since he was 10...he's now 33. He's the absolute antithesis of a journey man

He's also a very good defender, always has been. Just not a flashy name so never got high praise.

Meh Harv…..pedantic, I know Nacho is a lifer there and actually quite under rated - I used the term in reference that it wasn’t one of their high priced acquisitions that stopped him but rather a “utility player” being played in arguably his worst position

Point taken and I’ll be more specific going forward

The original definition of a journeyman is someone who’s reliable but not outstanding.

The sports use is a semantic change popularised by people talking the ‘journey’ part too literally

Yes, it’s the ‘real’ meaning of the word.

The other is basically a misuse that became so common that it’s now accepted, but that doesn’t make the original wrong.

                      Just to be clear ...

A journeyman is someone who is along for the journey, without affecting the journey itself?

That would be someone who spends a lot of time on the bench and probably pushing 30.

                        That’s a new one.

It’s someone who can do a job but isn’t outstanding at it.

Journey comes from the French for ‘day’ - journée.
A Journeyman man was someone who’d charge for days work, usually a craftsman or tradesman.

In sports, it’s come to mean someone who’s played for a lot of teams.

Why put journey in there at all then. Daft.
