For the financial benefits letting him go last Summer was the right choice but he's also still been our top scorer this season and the same with the assists. Based on what we've seen with our other front men I struggle to believe we'd have replaced those goals (certainly with those at the club).

It's if's and buts though. I mean we spent a lot on Nunez and he's not exactly set the world alight and we'd have been relying on Mad Jorge getting the deal over the line!

Replacing goals is hard and tbh for this season he has at least ensured we're back in the CL and we were fighting for the title up until the last few weeks.

Certainly time to go now though for me.

It'd be interesting to see what happens with Salah and a new contract if Ornstein is correct. As part of the supposed clashes he had previously were about giving contracts to older players weren't they?. I wonder if there is something in the stats that leads them to believe that his current form is a temporary blip and he'll improve again or what the deal is here?

We didn’t have enough time to recruit a suitable replacement. The offer came in with only days left in the transfer window- selling him would have meant waiting until at least January to replace him imo, or at least being prepared to if we couldn’t get someone in, in the few days we’d have had to do so.

If they’d made their offer in June I reckon they’d have gotten him (if Mo was up for it).

I think people are making too much over the incident on Saturday. Tensions were running high, he was pissed off at not starting, prob getting more and more frustrated as the game goes on, and he’s not being brought on… passes the 60 min mark… then 65min, 70min, 75min… 78th min he’s called to come on… and then the goal goes in and he boils over.

Not saying he was in any way right, just that it’s understandable.

The comment he made after the game was very much overstepping it though, and he should apologize to Klopp/the team. I feel like Klopp will deal with it differently than he would if he was staying. In normal circumstances I think we’d maybe see Salah out of the team next week, depending on what happens behind the scenes following the incident- cos Klopp wouldn’t let a player undermine him, and cause him to lose the dressing room. But when he only has 3 games left himself, I don’t think he’d cut his nose off to spite his face, and wouldn’t put the club in a position where they need to sell Salah over a fight he had with the old manager.

But also, with Slot coming in, we don’t want a situation like the ten hag/ Ronaldo stand off. Salah needs to fall in line and remember his place. The boss might not always be right, but he’s always the boss.
