He really did put a shift in though I thought he was very wasteful on the ball.

He looked like a competition winner on the ball at times, it must be so disheartening to not have your legs keep up with your brain.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHe really did put a shift in though I thought he was very wasteful on the ball."We oil the jaws of the war machine and feed it with our babies."

Getting into some great spots, but the final ball/shot continues to be awful. Much better signs from him though.Originally posted by danperkins View PostHe really did put a shift in though I thought he was very wasteful on the ball."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

He could have had a handful of assists last night but yeah the final ball just wasn’t there, except the ball to Gakpo that the freak saved.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Maybe Slot gave him a choice: be more effective offensively or do your share of the defending.Originally posted by peterbread View PostLooked like he was asked to get back to do more work defensively and helping out Bradley. He put in a good shift like Wirtz on the other side and the team looked so solid defensively. Two clean sheets in a row.

Absolute dog**** again. But they just keep giving him the ball so he can cut inside and **** up the pass/cross. That kid at LB had him cooked all game as is the norm these days.
And if you ever wanted a better example of how much pace he's lost, just watch that through ball that Grav played for him. Had the jump on the defender, just needed to take the ball in his stride and get it out in front past the onrushing keeper and Dias absolutely mowed him down. He looked like he was running backwards, this little legs look like they're going fast, but it's an illusion."When a man insults my country I insult him, by taking his woman" Tony Yeboah

Not blaming Salah for the defeat but him not needing yo defend can't continue, the reason Doku had such an impact yesterday was because Bradley was having to try and deal with him and the LB who Salah let go countless times. You saw Gravenberch or one of the midfielders come across but that leaves gaps in the middle. He was working back against Madrid but not yesterday, not sure if it's a tiredness or fitness issue, but if so he shouldn't have played.
Either he needs to defend or we need a change of system possibly playing as one of 2 CFs with less defensive responsibility, or he doesn't playThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Last year when he was putting up massive numbers you could justify it, we won the title and he and his role was obviously a massive part of that. Whether it is a drop in form for whatever reason or because teams have worked it out it just l isn't working this seasonThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He does that whenever he tries to dribble, he just stumbles into the defender, and has been said, it's not new.
The Saudis offered us £150m for him, we stupidly turned it down. Then we gave him a contract worth £400k a week. A player we could see was declining.
Both decisions were absolute bull**** for a player of his age and it's crazy that the club and 90% of the fans were completely deluded on the matter.

I thought maybe the weight of getting to 250 goals had held him down a bit, as once he scored that goal he was bang on it the next game. But no, it has to be age catching up with him. 3 games in a week is too much for even the fittest of 30+ year olds. If we manage his minutes better (and he needs to accept that and not sulk) then I still think he could be a pivotal player for us, so I am not advocating selling him, but he should no longer be the first name on the team sheet.
