Generally this is true of Klopp. His teams seem to let in between half to two thirds of what they score in terms of goals against and goals for over the course of a league season.


The two notable exceptions where when he led Dortmund to back to back titles.

The man knows how to win though, and like a lot of good managers his stubborn nature is both a blessing and a curse.


Do think he will do something similar with us as he did at Dortmund though. A number of seasons with some improvement and talk of him not being able to set up a defensive style of play for when it is needed, and then suddenly he gets in the players he wants and has then buying into his methods leading to a season or two where everything seems to click.

Yep. It's very binary with him and the way we play. The sooner we forget about that disaster today, the better.

I just don't think you can base any assumptions on this game.

City are a great team, they move the ball so we'll and have lots of clever players. Away to them with 10 is going to be a battering for most teams.

I accept that, but they've score three goals by a striker receiving a straight pass from the centre circle in space on the edge of the box, level with the last man. Three goals from the same basic issue, that can and should be stopped.

No it doesn't. While we're attacking teams with pace and good passing we keep teams on the defensive. A totally different situation to sitting back and absorbing pressure.

Towards the end of last season, that's exactly what he had to do, nick a goal and tighten up at the back. 'Win ugly' is Sky love to put it.

I would agree with that but not using the term cowardly. We just never had the fight to even make the game difficult for City in the second half. The subs from Klopp even suggested that we were already looking to the CL game.

Maybe wrong choice of word alright but I really did expect a bit more heart from the boys. Always onto a loser 1 nil down, 1 man down away to City but the heads well a truly dropped the whole second half.
