They'd be my starters for now when fit.

I think dropping TAA just because a world class full back showed him up when we were a man down, would be very harsh on him.
He was poor all game though. We seem to be rotating the full back positions quite a bit this year so I expect Gomez to start. I think Gomez will have the odd difficult night as well FWIW but hopefully not on his CL (proper) debut.

Yeah, I didn't see much of them apart from them being bellends at the ground and hearing other stuff on it after. I saw more of Vinny O'Connor around Basel itself than I did their lot. They are massive ****houses though, a Juve fan was stabbed out there, City, Leicester and others have had trouble there in recent years too. Meanwhile I know about 20 people going to Seville coz it'll be a "boss away" yet no one wants to go to Moscow incase they get ****ted.

Can't believe Karius is the default CL keeper. Ridiculous.

As much as I'm impressed by the promise of Gomez and TAA, and Moreno's apparent mini renaissance, part of me longs for the no nonsense defensive stability of Clyne and Milner.

Doesn't quite feel like there's the buzz around this you'd expect from being back in the Champions League at last? Hangover from the 5-0 maybe?

I think once that Champions League music plays it'll all come back to us

Glad Geis is out for them. He is more than a bit useful in the centre.

Although N'Zonzi and Banega are effective too.

Don't think this will be an easy game, but they are the right sort of team to bounce back against as a win against a good team would be ggreat for confidence. Having said that, if we play to the sort of levels we are capable of, then that beats the best they can get to imo.

A midfield two with complimentary balance.

Very much so, and both willing to put in a good shift.

Happier to be coming up against players like them after the City performance though than rubbish players. Forces our guys, well hopefully, to put in a perfomance.

4 points from this and Moscow away. Do maribor home and away and give fringe players a chance in final 2 games whilst we prepare for the following weekend games of Chelsea / Everton. Easy this European cup lark
