I kind of agree with your point but i thought it was Wijnaldum that was square on (about 20yards off Shelvey).

As Lecter said, that kind of stuff you get taught to deal with at junior level. Genuinely embarrassing, but not surprising, sadly. At least one of the CBs should have dropped off when they sensed the through ball but in fairness, Lovren is apparently playing through the pain barrier - I'm being kind though.

        Such a 'Liverpool' performance that.

Cracker from Phil and amateur level defending for their goal, a straight ball and our two CBS are out.

Gomez killing us in possession but not his fault as he is a CB, midfield anonymous again as Shelvey getting too much time, Phil scored a worldie but not keeping the ball most of the time, the wide players seem off and Sturridge (as much as I like him) can't get the ball to stick.

Still think we'll win 3-1 but this defence is beyond a joke and I completely blame Klopp for that, this VVD or nobody bull**** has costs us so many points already! We need two CBS not just a Lovren replacement.

You shouldn't have to coach that. These are pros

That's a basic fundamental of defending

You would see a decent amateur side who would know when to push up and play offside and when to drop off

Wijnaldum should have closed Shelvey down

Lovren and Matip should drop off when there is no pressure on the ball

Next season will be Klopp's defining moment as manager at LFC..sink or swim time...This team is so unbalanced and signings have been poor

Terrible terrible player for me. Too slow wants too much time on the ball and doesn't win possession

He ambles around the pitch and does nothing
Good point but we're comparing two mid-table level players so very low bar. We need much more than that.

With Coutinho i reckon we should play with two DCMs, there's no balance or responsibility in that midfield, or if there is i can't tell who is doing what.

Regardless of the midfield errors there it was absolute horrible defending......

To be honest they could have stood up a step for offside but they don't have anywhere near that level of understanding, communication or nous.

Both 100k/wk players as well, galling.
