Put a Gerrard or Alonso or Mascherano in there alongside them lot we wouldnt even be having this discussion
Good point but also I want the midfielders we have to be a bit braver on the ball. Make some late runs, take a man on just do something. Especially against teams sitting back. Same goes for the back 4. They could be accelerating with the ball well into midfield occasionally when appropriate. This would shake things up a bit and maybe create openings for the fab 4.

Picking Poulsen and Spearing (over the likes of Meireles, Gerrard, Maxi, Kuyt, Lucas) was due to the manager. Smint?
              Another MASSIVE game

The current players aren't necessarily terrible but as a unit they are ****. However, I agree that the addition of one or two quality midfielders would make a massive difference.

And we need a leader terribly. Someone who can rally the troops when we’re struggling for example.

Out of interest who is the captain of the 23’s?
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Are you just maybe being a shade bit hyperbolic?
jesus christ yeah forgot about them but did we not have other quality players in there too? As discussed above we are desperately lacking real quality in that midfield.
