we are also being linked with some kid called Juan Manuel, i think from MAdrid aswell.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Reports say that we`re also looking Real Madrids youngsters Bueno and Mata.
We`re, of course, looking at that young S`hamton defender, but so are everybody else.

Rafa is really looking to bring in young talent now, sounds very promising for the future.

All he need do is look at what Arsene Wenger is doing to see what rewards it would reap. Having said that, I think playing a more enjoyable style like Arsenal do also helps.
I would like to see Rafa giving out homegrown kids more of an opportunity though, I'd like to think the likes of Linfield and Anderson could get a chance this season, but I just cant see it happening. They are two of England brightest young tallents at their respective age groups.

I think loans are the answer for those two. They don't look ready for the first team yet and it's not easy for young players to come in when we are playing badly.

You are right about the advantages that Wenger has, however I think it is a big benefit to them that they have a feeder team in Belgium. We should look at doin something similar. Arsene has also been in charge for long enough that he has now got the younger teams playing the way he wants and has recruited youth over a longer period of time, meaning that he has the quality built up over time to field a full youth team in the league cup, which is a real advantage in terms of giving kids a chance.

Just out of interest, what kids in the current Arsenal team have come from the Belgian feeder club?.

Im liking Rafa signing all these young promising South Americans but does it amplify that state of out young academy players at Melwood?

                  No, not im my opinion.
I think we have some fine young players at the academy. They are youth Cup Champions, which you dont get by having an average youth side. I think they have struggled this season under new guidance at reserve level.

So that means Rafa is looking to the future. Never seen the lad play but he does sound promising.

never liked the look of Ablet if im honest, wasn't confident about his appointment as reserve team coach.

Toure, Eboue and Djourou I believe have had spells their. A lot of their young African players go through their when young to get EU passports.

The thing is they were all decent players but in the final second leg the gap between them and Micah Richards was frightening. He was the only player to look like he would definitely make it. There is a big gap between being good at the insulated level of youth football and being ready physically and mentally for playing in the PL.

Was only answering the question though about our accademy and the standard of it, if we are to judge by recent standards, the average quality of player we have is high, especially amongst the young players.
