Klopp has confirmed that Virgil van Dijk captained Liverpool in their recent games, with Jordan Henderson and James Milner out, after a vote from the other players.

Georginio Wijnaldum was also voted as the current vice-captain with captain Henderson and vice-captain Milner still out injured.

Klopp said he selected Milner and Henderson but the players voted for Van Dijk and Wijnaldum.

He selected one and two. Given they were out the players voted on who should be three and four. At least that's my understanding.

Yeah, you can read it both ways. But it's not very well written (by the BBC).

I did wonder that myself. Klopp was never too interested in captains and always gave it to longest serving player, so I wondered why VVD was getting it.

I'm not to worried about captain either, but it does look good on Virgil. Plus if I was a player and he was captain, I'd be **** scared of letting him down.
