They can still walk away if they don't get what they want.Originally posted by Mark79 View PostThat’s fair enough. It’s their last big contract, they’re entitled to push for the best deal possible.
They could have invited interest from other clubs to bump their negotiations up.
They haven’t. They’ve both made their wishes to stay known to all.
Let's not kids ourselves, they will have had offers and are trying to get us to match or at least get closer to their potential offers.
At some point we will have to fold and let them walk if they keep pushing.removing all the weak links makes us stronger
too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

Of course they can. But they've made it their priority to stay and thrash out an agreement. Can't ask for much more than that.Originally posted by baitman View PostThey can still walk away if they don't get what they want.

More importantly they have, for the most part, put in seasons that hark back to their peak form be it either in terms of performances (VVD ) or Goal/assist return (Salah).
There might be uncertainty etc over their contract status going forward, but those two have not let the fans, team or club down this season.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

The club won't budge especially with Edwards back as they will have a figure that won't go beyond for those players. VvD & Salah current contract will be their last big contract with us & what we are offering is the opposite of that as will be a lot less in what they are currently earning. It will all be about PAYP & performance bonuses as we have to protect ourselves, the two players are over 32 now & god knows how long before they can keep it up.Nope, don't need anger management, you just need to stop pissing me off!

I very much doubt either would sign less for what they earn now. They could double it elsewhere.Originally posted by Angryred View PostThe club won't budge especially with Edwards back as they will have a figure that won't go beyond for those players. This was from the day Mo signed his new deal or it was announced.
[Joyce] Virgil van Dijk will also extend his contract for two years.
Let them each have their own day. Probably the end of the week for VVD.
This from Ornstein.
Ornstein: Mohamed Salah + Virgil van Dijk closing in on signing new 2yr contracts with Liverpool. Both players into final months of existing deals but breakthrough found in negotiations & fresh terms set to extend key pair at #LFC until summer 2027
