Yeah, Van Dijk man of the match. We lost control of the game when they started going more direct and Virgil kept us in the game.
      Are we winning?

            I hate the term “gamechanger”

But I’m more than prepared to use it for this man since he’s joined the squad.

            A beast.

Same influence as Hyypia brought. taken this long to replace him, and I include Carra in that.
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Anyone keeping tabs on our defensive record since he joined?

Since joining we have played 7 PL game of which he has played 5 (he missed the City and Huddersfield games) In those 5 games we have conceded 4 goals (1 Swansea, 2 Spurs, 1 West Ham) and kept 2 clean sheets (Southampton, Newcastle). In the FA cup we have played 2 games and conceded 4 goals (1 Everton, 3 West Brom), and played 1 CL game keeping a clean sheet

                      So in total:
                      Played 8 Conceded 8 Clean Sheets 3
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Was thinking this watching us yesterday too. Very different players, and profile when signed, but the sudden sense of stability and organisation we've achieved with his arrival in the team is very similar. Developing players around him like Robertson and Karius look more and more confident and are growing game by game too which I don't think is entirely a coincidence.

We've not magically gained the perfect defence from his signing alone or anything, but crikey it really is good to have a top class player again at the back to build around.

I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
                          Mine angry and defrauded young?

It makes a huge difference to the keeper and the rest of the defence when you have someone as assured as Virgil organising.
My anxiety levels have fallen massively when watching us defend set pieces too.

There was a lot of ****e spouted about signing Van Dijk and how one player wouldnt make that much difference because it was down to tactics / the midfield being **** etc..

Defending isnt about having 4 or 5 great players its often about being a unit and Van Dijk definitely helps in that department

Well worth every penny for me

have to agree, Van Dijk is having the Suarez effect on the defence and everyone seems to be playing a lot better with him around. If Keita does the same for the Midfield we will be in for one hell of a season next year!!!
