            Yeah he wasn't great to be fair. 2 mistakes leading to goals in 88 games isn't too shabby though. Finding the right partner for him is interesting. Both Gomez and Matip have looked good and bad beside him and both are very injury prone & Lovren is hit and miss and also very injury prone.

              Matip just shades it for me and he gets the odd goal too which good CB’s should get.

                When he's properly fit I'd opt for Matip. I think he reads the game better and is less reliant on VVD to get himself into the right positions.

                  Yeah that’s how I see it too. Joe uses his pace to get him out of trouble at times where a better read wouldn’t require that. He’s only young & still learning though & should only get better.
