From The Guardian
Klopp has counselled patience regarding Virgil van Dijk’s return from an ACL surgery. The centre-half is in Dubai undergoing rehab following surgery in October and the club have sent a physiotherapist to the United Arab Emirates to work one-to-one with him.
Van Dijk has recently posted videos from his exercise bike in the gym, demonstrating he has reached the milestone of being able to bend his knee again, but Klopp cautioned there was a long road to travel. “Progress is good but there’s still a long way to go. I can be happy when I see these videos because it shows we make good progress but, with this type of injury, it will still take a lot of time. I would like to say something else but these are the facts.”Are we winning?

He's saying no one was asking for a red card, almost as if that was our players fault. I think that this is where the rules get complicated because we were asking for a pen. The double jeopardy rule means that if it had have been onside it would have been a penalty but the question about a red card comes down to whether Pickford was making an attempt to play the ball (there would have been a case for both as it was dangerous play IMO) but under the current rules it makes sense to be asking for the pen rather than the red.Originally posted by McDermotX View PostMichael Oliver - 'yeah.....I should have sent Pickford off'
No **** sherlock. You came up with that all by yourself, did you ? What ? 3 months later ?

The other thing is once it goes to VAR no one knows what is happening so if the players aren't told the officials are only looking at the offside they can't say you also need to look at the red. The transparency issue is huge because it was suggested at the time that VAR looked to see if it was a red and decided that it wasn't. Oliver here seems to be suggesting otherwise...
Also the comments about getting it right first time and there being no need for VAR to be called upon are somewhat naive, if as he is suggesting he was asking the VAR official to look at stuff, surely the VAR official isn't doing his job he should say I also think you need to look for the red card. The VAR official has the 'advantage' that he isn't caught up in the moment and influenced by players emotions, he should be able to be the calm, logical voice of reason if the ref can't be.Last edited by Exiled_red; 10-01-21, 03:10 PM.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He is also saying that no-one - not him, not the linos, and not the VAR people - thought "hang on, what about considering whether the idiot keeper should be red-carded". As incomprehensible now as it was then....unless they are sheep. Or maybe, because of the occasion, rabbits frozen in the headlights.

Oliver is indeed a cunt and it was a **** call... but for me, it was 100% on Coote on VAR... the ref can make a mistake in the moment, seeing it just once and needing to make the call right away...
Var has as much time as needed, can watch multiple replays from various angles and isn’t under the same pressure etc.
Even if it is 3 months later, happy to hear Oliver admitting that he ****ed it- we need more of that from refs for these kind of things to get sorted long term... what is ****in annoying is that he’s coming out now saying he should have sent him off- why not at the very least have put that in his post match report and given him a 3 match suspension, not that it would have helped us at all...I don't tip

Well, maybe ask him about awarding a stonewall penalty for us next time we play a match with him as ref!!Originally posted by Mr Pink View PostOliver is indeed a cunt and it was a **** call... but for me, it was 100% on Coote on VAR... the ref can make a mistake in the moment, seeing it just once and needing to make the call right away...

As I say, he is indeed a cunt...
But it’s hard to complain about a ref missing something without sounding like a bunch of whinging keynts- theyre human they’re gonna make mistakes, **** happens... VAR was introduced to catch things like this, and coote has no excuse for not catching it. For me, he shouldn’t get another game after what he did that game, between the Pickford challenge, and the mane “offside”...I don't tip
