    Yep

His reading of the game is back to matrix levels. He just cruises around but utterly dominates who ever he is up against. Big and cumbersome or fast looking to run in behind, he handles them all.

His calm sense of positioning enables Joel to go on his mad forests forward also. He and Konate look like a very strong option for us going forward.

We just need to fit Gomez in somehow? What an option for 4th choice!

In reality, the likes of Baresi and Maldini would contest that too because of their longevity.......but if VVD is still here in 5 years and cooking on gas, then he could be up there with genuine world greats.

I love the way he chose LFC - he could have made a lot more cash and won more trophies somewhere else. He'd have been guaranteed 5 or 6 league titles had he chose City.
I did say that he’s possibly our best ever.

He's absolutely rapid too. He doesn't need to be, as his positioning is so good; but for his size he can shift

He was 2nd fastest at the club behind Gomez. I Imagine Diaz will be fastest now.

I think he beats every centre half I've ever seen - his raw attributes are off the scale, there's not been a defender like him.

Not hyperbole, he doesn't have a single weakness to his game.

Makes me laugh when United fans feign incredulity when you tell them he's better than Vidic and Ferdinand. They were both excellent, particularly Ferdinand, but VVD is way better. The only thing he doesn't have on the likes of Rio, Terry etc is longevity.
              Thanks very much for being

Vidic is overrated. However good he might have been against lesser sides and target men, Torres ate him for breakfast with pace. You just don’t see that with Virgil, whoever we play.

Both had strengths. VVD has no weakness, Although according to Jimmy Floyd Thiago passes better

Hansen and Lawrenson were up there

No matter how good Hansen was, his prime years were robbed of top elite football in Europe where he & his LFC team would have come up against the likes of Romario, Van Basten, Klinnsman, Laudrup & Maradona in the old European Cup format which would have elevated him to superstar status. For me, that is where VVD will have that edge over Hansen.

In Hansen's playing career for Liverpool, his winners medals include 8 league titles, 3 European Cups, 2 FA Cups and 4 League Cups.

Hansen was more like VVD, an incredible reader of the game, calm and technically great. Lawro wasn’t quite at that level but had pace and his tackling was second to none. Injuries cut short his peak years unfortunately.

He brought the ball out from the back like Matip though.
