Yep he's starting to look the clear favourite in 1 vs. 1 situations again.

Brilliant. Easily the best in the league, probably back to being best in the world.

                Class player.

I wonder is the next evolution of the team eventually to move to a 3 man defence - and could be tje reason we have been linked with players like Colwill and Inacio. Virgil in the middle of a back 3 could possibly enable him to do a Thiago Silva and play for another 5 to 7 years

                    Worrying from the beeb

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said he is unsure if he will be part of the post-Jurgen Klopp era at the club.

Klopp has surprisingly announced that he will leave the Reds at the end of the season.

Van Dijk was signed by the German from Southampton for £75m in January 2018 and the 32-year-old defender's contract at the club runs out in summer 2025.

Asked whether he saw himself being part of the next era, Van Dijk said: "That's a big question. I don't know."

Liverpool assistant managers Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as elite development coach Vitor Matos, will also leave the Merseyside club along with Klopp.

Meanwhile, the contracts of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and defender Trent Alexander-Arnold are also scheduled to run out in summer 2025.

"The club will have a big job on their hands, that is well known," said Van Dijk, who was speaking after scoring in his side's 5-2 FA Cup fourth-round win against Norwich City on Sunday in the first game following Klopp's announcement.

"To replace not only the manager but the whole staff and there are so many things that will change.

"I'm very curious which direction that will go in, but when that will be announced we will see our situation."

Liverpool are challenging for trophies on four fronts as they remain in the FA Cup, are top of the Premier League, have reached the Carabao Cup final and are in the last 16 of the Europa League.

"It will be the end of Jurgen Klopp's era - I am still part of it that's why I don't like to talk about it - and that is my main focus," added Van Dijk.

"Hopefully, we will have the success we all dream of and by then probably there will be more clarification about what the club wants for the future and then we will see."

Sounds more like he doesn't know who/what will happen and whether he will be in the new managers plans, rather than he wants to jump ship and leave cos Jurgen is going.

I don't want any manager who wouldn't have him in their plans

Let's be honest, Klopp is a big part of why players are here.

We are definitely going to miss his draw for both new signings and getting players to stay

Yeah it would be naive of us to think that Klopp isn't the main draw. The anxiety of who comes in next, new DOF, new manager and new back room team .... it's a mammoth task & creates so much uncertainty. IMO the only one that could possibly come in that might have huge draw potential is Zidane. Honestly, I have no idea if he is a good coach or not, he did very well with Real and the guy is a footballing legend.

I like the goes of Alonso and what he is all about but it is a huge task for such an inexperienced manager. I do fear a real transition at LFC next season.

This was never gonna last forever tbh. Let's say that the manager (Alonso) loses VVD and Salah for the next season, we might get in a proper wedge and free 5-600k off the wage bill.

We'll make Trent captain, get Hincapie and Inacio for VVD, Olise or someone for Salah and press on with a hugely promising squad. Not a doomsday scenario. NOTE, I'd rather keep them both ideally.

However, maybe news like this puts some pressure on the club announcing the next manager sooner than later?
