However, maybe news like this puts some pressure on the club announcing the next manager sooner than later?
I think that's very possible to lose both and for me, aswell as getting huge wages off the books, we did get their best years too. There is always new superstar talent and the next big thing around the corner, just a matter of our scouts finding them.

I would not do that at all if he continues to let his contract run down. Come June he is down to the final 12 months of his contract.

Last year there were reprts at the start of the year, and supposedly again in the summer that talks had taken place and given no new contract was signed they came to nowt.

He wants to be considered for the captain's armband in the event of VVD moving on, then he needs to sign a contract extention.

Not helpful from the captain. Just bat the question away. The focus for now needs to be on all that can be achieved this season. We don’t need more uncertainty and speculation that can only destabilise us when we’ve got 4 trophies to go for.

Not the smartest response from Big V but it is obvious - we can all assume that FSG will make the correct decision re: recruitment but you never know.

We don't actually think that do we? They came here because of the manager. Otherwise move to London or get paid more in Manc.

                  This is the reality.

Not the clearest but I took it to mean, he doesn’t know who the new manager will be and if he will be in their plans nothing more.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Could also be that bits of his interview were cherry picked to create some ambiguity.

Would like to see or hear the entire interview in order to see how the quotes attributed to him then sit.

That’s how I interpret that too. The media will put a different spin on it though

VVD is a legend and he’s always come across as a decent bloke.

He was maybe a bit too honest answering those questions but I think he’d stay on if he was in the next managers plans.

Club needs a good DOF first because it’s not likely the next manager will be at LFC 9 years and there needs to be continuity. It’s probably a good thing the coaching staff exit at once because whoever comes in will want to bring their own staff.

No avoiding it though, next year will be hard with so much change at once.

I took it as him giving the ownership a reminder that he wants the club to remain ambitious and competitive. He probably shouldn't have said it, but I think his attitude is understandable.

Im not sure what he said that was wrong.

He seemed unsure of his future as anyone would with a new boss coming in. Id be anxious about it too. Regardless of him being a good football manager, he is a great human being too. A lot of "good" bosses are dicks, and good people can make terrible bosses.

Its almost certain whomever comes in is going to be a step down in one or both areas.

Add to that his age... Id cut him a bit of slack. I never took him as a towering intellectual, so he is probably not thinking how his words might come across in or out of context.

I certainly have less worries than I do Trent. I can see him going to Madrid on a free regardless.
