To be brutally honest, it might be best for all parties. Like it or not this team needs to be rebuilt for longevity.

Yes that is fair. Or maybe he knows that we are buying another half a dozen players, and that he wants to be in a team that wins something now in his last year as opposed to being part of a rebuild job.
