Spurs home build up (inc Spurs Utd)

Done the unusual thing of including the Spurs United game cos it's so vital as far as we're concerned.

(Mods - if you don't like it feel free to chop it out and move it, but personally think since it's definitely LFC related it should be covered here too)

Draw best tomorrow night imo, but really it's a no lose for us. A United win leaves us 5 ahead of Spurs, playing them on Sunday with a chance to go 8 clear and they play Arsenal next just a few days before Juve away in the CL. Beat them and top 4 is more or less in the bag.

Even if Spurs win, we're still 2 ahead with a chance to go 5 clear on Sunday and be just 3 behind the Mancs at worst, and a chance to look upwards and aim for 2nd.

Think the team for Sunday picks itself.

    Karius

    Gomez
    Matip
    VVD
    Robbo

    Hendo
    Can
    Gini

    Salah
    Firmino
    Mane

What was the story with VVD today? Injured?

I agree a draw tomorrow and then we basically just need to at worst avoid losing to Spurs on Sunday. But, a draw tomorrow and a win for us would be amazing.

Agree on the team, it pretty much picks itself now we have sold all the other attacking players we have Hendo definitely made a difference today, the midfield looks more solid with him in it. Gini at home v a top 6 team is also a no brainer. Arguably the only decision we have is who to play with big VVD.

I'd actually rather have Lovren or Klavan instead of Matip right now. Doesn't fill me with confidence lately, although I think what you posted will be the starting defence. In midfield it's probably Wijnaldum over Oxlade because he plays better at home and against top sides, but it will be interesting to see who Klopp picks cause they're both rested. Hopefully neither as we're signing Kroos tomorrow!!

Hopefully Poch comes with his usual thick as **** tactics.

Agree that's the big question mark. Klavan has been class and Lovren was good tonight. Still think it'll be Matip though and I'd agree with that.

Every time at Anfield. Walks into the trap. I don't think he'll park the bus - too much belief in his own system for that, but I don't think they'll come at us all out. At Wembley I thought he altered it a bit and they sat a lot deeper than usual and hit us on the break.

I want a draw or win to Utd.

With Arsenal ****ing it up again, they're now 8 points behind us and probably out of the top 4 race (although nothing is impossible at this stage).

A Utd win would see Spurs 5 points behind and that gives us a cushion should we lose to them next week.

Also, I don't think 2nd, 3rd or 4th mean much because they all automatically qualify for the CL and City have effectively won the league.

Also worth noting that Spurs vs Arsenal is coming up too!

I feel dirty wanting a United win tomorrow. If spurs lose tomorrow and we beat them we will have an 8 point lead on them.

Need to get the points though. If Spurs beat Utd then us and they go 1 point ahead of us. So it is far from done and dusted.

If they lose both - we get an 8 point lead on them with 40 (odd) to play for which isn't a terrible position to be in.

If that happens for the first time in a while we could look up rather than worry about down.

Before we get to this game, what result do people want tomorrow (Spurs v United), what is the best result for LFC?
Brandt - Keita - Van Dijk - Sessegnon

Best result is a United win.

Can you want that though? I'd take a draw

Draw or United win, but United losing is always ****ing lovely and so providing we beat Spurs on Sunday it's a no-lose feet-up time imo.

I'd like Spurs to beat the scum and then us to beat Spurs. Let's catch Yernited!

I would never favour a United win. Draw is the best result for me and it allows us to claw back two points from United.
                            Are we winning?

While sealing top 4 is the most important, and 2nd / 3rd / 4th is a much of a muchness, I still want us to finish 2nd and above those Manc *******s. Determined to keep looking upwards and not over our shoulders. I think we're the 2nd best side in the league, clearly, so let's ****ing underline it.
