Because of the balls up in the semi second leg we are ranked lower than Roma, a minor but not insignificant detail.

Basel and Benfica need to go through qualifying so to make pot 2 we require both to fail to qualify. If we were top ranked pot 3 we would of course need only 1 to fail

They are title winners from the 6th best ranked European association. Previously its been top 8 associations or top 7 and CL winners, this tear Europa winners go pot 1 if not already league winners.

No qualifiers to play Final in Madrid

Pretty much in pot 3 rather than 1 due to the losing the final, I wouldn't mind a big name in our group, we were severely lacking one of the European elites at Anfield this season.
