Had this conversation about Gini awhile ago. He can do a great job playing as an attacking player, that's what he actually is and was banging in goals in Holland doing exactly that & for Newcastle before he was asked to be more defensive with us.

Not sure that Moreno was at fault for the goal. A poor diagonal pass looked to be going wayward and the wide man acrobatically controlled it. The whole defence was caught out by it. Moreno was too far from the man, VVD was in no mans land, Philips and TAA were marking nobody. Excellent cross whipped in between Philips and TAA and Bellotis Bullet header nearly burst the net

Gini has been impressive, hes playing as the forth offensive player and just popping up all over the place. The defenders havent got a clue what to do with him

Was a cracking header but Moreno gives way too much space as per usual. It's a thing he has been doing his whole career unfortunately. You give an attacking player enough space to get a cross in and you are putting your defence under unnecessary pressure.

In general I prefer him not to get too close to them. I know we conceded a goal but if they are too close and glide by him he tends to scythe them down and bite their ears off for good measure.

I don't think he'll be getting too many games anyhoo...

What Matip?

I agree he should have faith in their qualities, but not so much in their ability to stay fit. You called it a risk yourself, you can 'see why he'd take it', I however can't understand at all why someone would take a risk with defensive options when they're aiming for the top. What is the prediction of potential success based on? Can't be past experience, considering how many injuries we've had in that area, which resulted in constantly disrupted defensive partnerships and consequently some abhorrent defensive displays by everyone bar VVD. So what else is there, a hunch, are they such good friends?

I think if we had more money to spend Klopp would immediately bring someone new in can't blame the club for not paying this time though, we really have spent a lot this year. Let's just hope for a miracle.
