The closest he comes to being "hit and miss" is when he is getting his fitness and sharpness back after an injury, but once back in the team a game or two his levels tend to shot up and his is almost machine like in his consistency.

Said it before, but if Jones was a 22 year old player from London or Brighton or wherever and playing in another PL team, we would gushing over being linked to him.

We go on about Trent being a young local lad in the team as if he is some young guy barely out of his teens, but Trent is 25 now and very much a senior
established player that has proven himself at the highest level.

Same with the likes of Konate at 24. We go on as if he is really young and ask how much better might he get when older but then question the even younger Jones for not being the finished article.

Jones only turned 22 this year and handles himself on the pitch like he is years older than he is.

          Carried away?

He is a good player already at 22.

And think it is fair to say that if another player of 22 had been playing like he has been this season and last that we would be dead excited about him as a talent were we to be linked with him.

Does that mean at 25 he will be amazing? No , but right now he is a good player for his age.

He has done ok since breaking into the first team in 18/19, some perspective here.

I would hazard a guess that not many outside our own fanbase are gushing over his talents. You talk about Chelsea & Brighton, Palmer who is younger, has 8 Goals 5 Assists this season. Even that ****bag Mudryk has 2 Goals 3 Assists. Adringa who is younger has 5 Goals 3 Assists this season. If we were linked with any of them personally I wouldn't be gushing over them.

Jones he is still young, had a good game yesterday, scored 2 nice goals & showed some good performances at the back end of last season. I prefer him to Gravenberch and he does have ability but I can't really pretend he's been some sort of revelation for us. He has been ok imo and hopefully he can improve and stay fit

Only because he hasn’t been given the game time this season. He’s done really well for England but Klopp tends to be slower in bringing players into the team.

I think he's a good player, he had been rather hit and miss when he was younger, but the last year or so he has definitely matured and done well for us. Only real criticism I have of him is that sometimes he holds on to the ball a little too long and slows the game down a bit when you downtown to, but that has been improving in the last year or do too.

I don't see the benefit in comparing him to other players, everyone's circumstances and development are different
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He’s been excellent since coming back in late last season.

We play better when he plays regardless of whether he’s showy or not - his work rate, movement, passing are all top level.

Why are you comparing him with attacking players?! Makes zero sense

There's nothing negative about what I'm saying, he's done ok, he has ability and he also needs to improve but he's young and has time to stake a claim. I do prefer him ahead of Grav too.

I really like Curtis. He goes about his job with a minimum of fuss, has game intelligence and rarely wastes the ball. Quietly effective and a tremendous barnet.

Very much an overlooked quality of his is that barnet. Not even a hint of a discernible style to it. It just is. A follically blessed ode to Descartes himself.

Many here were rightly in awe of Brock's beard once upon a time. Dare I say that what resides atop Curtis is a gift from the same hirsute diety that brought us BB.

And it would be remiss of me not to mention that pencil tache.

Our Curtis could time travel and is already groomed in a manner that would allow him to play in an era from the 1920s onwards.

And yet that cad Perkins tries to besmirch poor Jonesy.
