    Hooper played over 50 games.

Saw my first game with him letting in Limpars shot from the halfway line... God Souness was the ****tiest manager we have ever had... Bodge included.

50 games over 8 years though.

Based on Wiki I don’t recall the period where he played in 88/89 at all.

I still think Reina for the first few years was everything you want in a keeper. But Allison is top notch, a massive upgrade on Karius and Mignolet.

I remember him being in goal for us in 1986, never mind 88/89. My Dad took me to Leicester to see Kenny play live - I was only 8 at the time, and Kenny was my absolute hero. Still is. We got there only to find out when the teams were announced that Kenny had put himself on the bench, and Hooper was starting in goal.

In my memory Hooper was ****e all game, and at fault for both goals as they took at 2-0 lead. One of them by not setting up a wall properly and letting a soft free kick in, and one for being beaten from long distance. Kenny brought himself on as sub and scored a great goal, but we couldn't quite make back the deficit and lost 2-1.

I've found the highlights on youtube, and my 8 year old self may have been a bit harsh on Hooper in that game. He was still ****e though.

The interesting bit from the highlights is that it had completely passed me by that Gary Mac played in that game, and scored the free-kick against us. I had no idea until just now!

Yeah same here. Can't say I remember him having much to do either, but when he did he rarely let us down. Solid & reliable with great hair. I think Al is cast from the same mould.
