He has been our player of the season by a huge margin imo.

So often been the rock upon which the hopes of the other team get dashed upon.

Keeps us in games and his concentration is so sharp after periods where we have had the ball a long time.

He papers up a hell of a lot of cracks in the team, even in games like last night's one. His saves are the difference between weak moments defending hurting us or not.

We'd be in the bottom half of the table without him. He's absolute filth.

          For sure.

Good season or bad season, he must be worth about 10 points to our final tally.

When you look at the XGA stats vs shots for us and the expected saves vs shots stats, he is simply off the charts to a silly degree. Do not think there is a top flight keeper coming close to matching him right now.

And when his stats get weighted to show for things like one on ones and the position of the goal the ball was heading for, he stands out even more.

Only keeper in world football over the past 20 years whose stats profiled like those of Alisson's over the past five years is peak Neuer.

No surprise either that given how close they are stylistically.

It’s all down to his magnificent bee beard

That BBC comment tickled me as as the owner of a beard. Alisson's beard is not really that big or long a beard.

His does suit the handsome fecker though.

That's where Karius went wrong. He has the looks but never figured out that the best goalkeepers in Liverpool tend to suffer from Samson syndrome.

No facial hair or the inability to grow thick facial hair and you just lose your goalkeeping skills.

Though I still think much of the Karius hate on here was down to uggo ESTers looking at Karius then turning to look at themselves in the mirror.

Also explains why I never disliked Karius.

Karius had a short beard for a while, amd had it on for the CL final, so you are talking bollocks mate.

Beard *thickness* is absolutely crucial for a top keeper. Perhaps darker hair helps as the striker can feel more intimidation.

He probably had someone else chop it at (Lo)risk of lopping his own head off.

Pepe Reina grew a beard late on to try to boost his ailing powers
In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

The beard Karius grew was not a proper thick beard so it obviously does not count.

He may be a handsome man but he lacked the ability to grow a thick beard. A quality all the great keepers have always had regardless of whether they chose to grow a beard or tache.

Hey I heard your idol Natty Philips did a Cruyff turn in training today. If you get in your car now and drive to Liverpool you should get there before he finishes it

To be a great Liverpool keeper you need to be/do one of the following:
1 Able to grow a thick beard between matches...when we are playing midweek games!
                    2 Confused by beach balls
3 Good at dribbling down the wing and taking money off dodgy blokes in hotel rooms
                    4 Shagging your babysitter/gangster's moll/comedian's daughter...allegedly
                    5 A flying pig

                    Karius was none of those.

                      Exactly

Karius is good looking and is able to eat ice cream properly. As such he will still have a very good life.

But fails to meet the level one reaches if he or she were at the level of meeting one or more of the above well researched and scientifically proven facts as put forward by your good self.

He just lets the attacker take that one extra touch, and as soon as he does, he flies out and suddenly the opponent has no net to aim at. Probably one of the best at 1v1s I've seen in a long time.

Top keeper. He loves it here too. Talk is cheap and it's easy to say the right things but I'll take these comments our No. 1 made a couple of days ago at face value:

"It's a fresh start from the past five years," the No.1 told Liverpoolfc.com of the personal milestone.

"I only use those years to remember how good it is to be a Liverpool player. How good it is to be part of this family – a big family.

"The team, the supporters, the staff; everybody here, they are amazing. I love this place. I love being a Liverpool player and I want to give my all for the team to achieve our goals and go back to winning again."

                                https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/ali...rmany-and-more

Interesting comments from the same article vis-à-vis new arrivals:

It's not only me but all the players. The mentality of everybody here, the more experienced players that are here longer, we try to help the new players that are coming in for them to be as settled as soon as possible. We are going to need them as soon as possible as soon as the games start. It's important to help them, and for me the South American players I can help more, because a little bit language problems. But Alexis [Mac Allister] doesn't have an issue with that, but I want to help in any way I can.

Further confirmation (if any was needed) that ensuring new arrivals settle in is a collective team effort, and not the remit of a single individual endowed with alleged superlative 'leadership and team-building skills'.
