I live in Devon, I know of a family of City fans from Manchester and another City fan, also from Manchester. A Devonian City fan too who's supported them all his life AFAIK.

There's definitely a perception that we're a smug fan base, made worse by the fact the few idiots who come across as 'smug' also have a sense of entitlement to go with it... "We're a big club and we should be winning this year in year out" type thing. For nearly 30 years, our club has had mouthpieces like this and so it's no wonder in my mind why we've gradually done from people's second team to loathed and hated. Chavs like Jason Cundy and Utd wankfester Goldstein on Talk****e perpetuate this misconception about our fan base saying 'they'd be a nightmare to live with if they won it'. They're both just utter cunts though...

I mean I'm from Dublin so I am not a scouser but, to a man every scouser I have ever crossed paths with has come across as unusually well-read regardless of the social class and Liverpudlians are one of the few people on this planet I think can hang with Irish people in terms of just natural wit. Add to that, like Cornwall, Liverpool acts like a Republic, mix in the memory 20 years of total football, dominance were we shat over every club in the land .. you can see were it comes from. I don't think we were "everyone's second club" as much as we like to think we were.

Being such a big club means that there's naturally animosity towards us from others, mix in our rivals generally not wishing us well it's understandable people may not like us to win the league.

It takes time for City to be hated as much as they start from a lower rung on the ladder, in fact it's testament to how awful Chelsea are that their hatred amongst other fans grew as quickly as it did.

Particularly after 2014. It was the first time I started reading other teams' fans comments on messageboards and couldn't believe the hate out there for Liverpool. I was waiting until we won the league that year to give them both barrels but didn't work out that way unf. If we were to win it this year I would be unbearable for trolls
