Its hard to be annoyed at finishing second. We have been absolutly awesome, best Liverpool side I can remember.

We absolutely cannot control what others do, so just have to do the best we can ourselves. Looks like we will finish on 97 points. Ill take some solace that Utd have never managed that many points.
    *Except Michael, who died.

          This.

We can’t control what others do. I think City setting such a high bar has made us improve, not sure we would have got 94-97 points without that.

Whatever happens on Sunday, we go again next season with the best Liverpool team I’ve seen in my 25+ years of support

Just posted similar elsewhere, been such an awesome and fun season!

Now the team has a good break in summer, and we'll have an even better go at it next season.
            * The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Will we though? Will we get more than 97 points? Honestly it feels extremely unlikely.

I think we'll have another good season, maybe reach 90 again, but it most likely won't be enough.

It honestly feels like our main hope is seeing City implode somehow. This is a crazy situation.

You dont need 97 points to win the league every season.

Klopp and Guardiola have turned the PL into La Liga. It's been an incredible season with two awesome teams.
                  Another MASSIVE game

One thing is for sure. We need to consolidate and not have this be a one off. If 2 teams dominate going forward, I want us to be one of them.

The frustrating thing is we have done it legally. The amount of financial doping going on at City is unreal.

They will just get a slap on the wrist for it though. The Premier league will be ****ed for years. We have been amazing but I don't see a 90 point plus season again for us.

It's going to turn into Ligue 1 for sure.

You're right, you don't. You need more. 101 last season and 99 this season if you wanted to topple City.

You can laugh but what logic is there to think you won't need similar next season too?

Why is that? We dont seem to be losing any players, most of our best players are hitting their prime now and have 2-3 years left (VVD, Salah, Robinson, Allison, Keita, Fabinho) We have good recruitment and an excellent manager. Why cant we maintain?

                            But also this

The bar has clearly been raised to an astronomical level, but we're right up there. If we keep these players, why shouldn't we keep up with City?
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

So tough to take- this last 12 months has been the saddest of my life, having seen my wonderful Mum worsen then ultimately succumb to Alzheimer’s. LFC have provided a massive distraction to my grief though so I suppose from a personal note that is even more important than winning the league and that’s way I’m gonna take it. Yesterday was already an emotional day though for one reason or another and a good result would’ve taken the edge off that rather than magnified it. Difficult not to feel utterly deflated today- ****ed if I’m feeling defeated though.

No real order to my thoughts there, just trying to make sense of things before work cos my head is battered.
Sorry to hear about your grief. Take care of yourself.

Yeah, I don't see why not, if we get in two or three players of the right age, I can't see why can't maintain. Gomez is only getting better, TAA, Keita and Robertson too. Fabinho, Mane, Salah, Gini, Bobby, Alisson and VVD are in their primes for the next two seasons or so, the Ox is coming back too.

We need another forward, a fullback and a creative midfielder.

We are offloading Moreno, Sturridge, Karius at least, maybe even Lallana. That's a fair bit of wedge there, I think we can improve.
