I don't know mate. Makalele is not the best passer or most skillfull player in the world but he is one of Chelskis best players and really does a job for them as a DMC.

hmm... you are right about Makelele, but still, I think he has more skills on the ball than Carra. Carra, dare I say so, looks quite akward on the ball at times, and appears a bit clumsy, lacking balance and agility.
I think this would be more evident if we played him in a midfield role.

Makalele is a brilliant DMC because he has great first touch, great vision and very neat short passing. He also has a positional sense produced by playing in the position for his entire career. I think that DM is one of the most specialised positions on the park to do well in over time, defenders can do it one off or to combat certain threats from the opposition but most are found out very quickly (think Ledley King for England). It's a hard job and I think we would be better off if Carra and Agger stay in defence and build up a better understanding.
He has got great first touch I'll give you that. Main thing I see him do though, which Didi did so well, is the break up play. Reading the game so well and being in the right position at the right time to quash an attack.
It is a specialised position and one that Momo doens't quite get yet. Don't get me wrong he is a good player, but has to use his acceleration and long legs to get him out of situations rather than Makele and Didi who just seem to be in the right place at the right time.
Whether Cara can do this is another thing. I think he reads the game well, his short passing is pretty good (doesn't need the glory ball there), his tackling is excellent and he has a good head.

He can look a bit clumsy at times and also seems to prefer the square or pass back than short forward balls, but that comes with confidence in the midfield position.

Obviously the break up of play is the main thing for a DM but what seperates the best like Makelele is what they do once they have got the ball. He rarely gives the ball back to the opposition and always loks to find people in space. Didi was similar.

Stick Carra in midfield and let Agger and Sami cover at the back.
Carra will do a much better job than Zenden in there and he would allow Gerrard to push on a bit.
Good point but he wont do that i think Carra is a big figure in the back and Rafa wants to play Carra and Agger more and more at the back to get to know each other and understand each others game.
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

Dunno about that one mate, Makalele is pretty smart with the ball at his feet, Carra for all his qualities is not nearly as good at retaining the ball in midfield IMO.
