Barcelona were expected to be celebrating a trip to the Champions League final this Tuesday evening, but they instead lost 4-0 and Ernesto Valverde can't quite believe it.
The coach shouldered the blame for the historic collapse against Liverpool.
"They were better and we have to accept it," he stated after the match.
"The scoreline was 4-0 and when that's the case there are no excuses.
"Their second goal hurt us massively and the third one came in straight after that.
"They played well, and we have to congratulate them for reaching the final."
Valverde had reminded his players before Tuesday's game of Roma's quarter-final comeback in last season's Champions League.
"The most painful thing is that this has happened before," noted the coach.
"It's very painful for us, especially for our fans.
"It's the second year in a row they've experienced this.
"We want to really concentrate to avoid this."
He was also asked for his thoughts on the failure of his defence to pay attention at the fourth goal.
"It surprised me and everyone," he said.
"It was incredible and it puts us out.
"I guess they took it quickly and we didn't have time to set ourselves up.
"I didn't see it clearly because when I looked the ball was already in
Sergio Busquets was almost in tears as he analysed Barcelona's 4-0 defeat against Liverpool in the Champions League semi-final second leg clash.
The No.5 was apologised to the fans of his club after a dismal display saw them get knocked out of the Champions League.
"They have been better than us," he said of Liverpool in the post-match interview with Movistar.
"I apologise.
"After what happened in Rome, this happened again.
"It's tough to go out like this after the first-leg result.
"Liverpool have been smarter than us, they were faster.
"I think we had chances to score the goal we needed, but it wasn't meant to be today."

I stayed in, watched a stream and had just a peppermint tea.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostYeah, those liters of coffee probably weren't very smart

Quite strange being sober for such a monumental game. It was still excruciating and exhilarating at the same time.
I was practically behind the sofa in injury time.Oh I don't know.

Delicious irony; Suarez injures Robbo and his replacement strides on and bags two goals
I hope somebody knocks the snide cunts front two teeth out.
Poch will be sick at this result; he knows that Barcelona can be put under physical pressure by Premier League teams as has been demonstrated in this tournament. We'll be a totally different kettle of fish should Spurs reach the final.

Ha, similar scenario for me. I'm working away from home this week ans was stuck in a restaurant so missed it to. Managed to get a little signal just before half time then again at 60 minutes. Nearest pub had WiFi which I got on for the last 15 including injury time so nervousOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostAre there highlights on either today or tomorrow night, I don't have BT sport and am away at the moment and was following the game on the BBC in a meeting getting more and more animated as the score got closer to what we needed
Would love highlights too! Ah who am I kidding I want the whole match to replay! Vimeo or Daily Motion would be a reasonable place to startFootball without Origi is nothing
