If everything goes to form we should go into the game v City (assume we beat Villa they beat Southampton) with a 6 point lead.

That means the draw is a decent result for us but they have to go for the win. Which plays into our hands.

    Need a good ref though.

That could be the key factor.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Win our next 2 and it's hard to make any sort of case for us being caught really. pretty incredible we are so far clear given our attack was late coming back, we had extra time in Turkey on a Wednesday night before a Saturday away etc and while I dont rate many sides in our league there's no doubt our fixture list has been far, far, far harder than City's. Their fixture list has basically been a load of nothing clubs while we've been going to Man Utd, Chelsea, had to play Leicester etc

I think you are getting a bit carried away, assuming it goes that way we'll have a 6 point lead with 26 to play, anything could happen.

              Nah, we'd have a 9 point lead.

City after Southampton and us have all their tough games coming up to new year. Chelsea, Utd at home with Burnley and Newcastle both away sandwiched in between. Then Arsenal and Wolves away with Leicester at home sandwiched in between.

Including the game against us they can't afford even a single draw in any of these 8 tough games.

They could really, badly have done with us dropping points tonight. Must be playing on their minds.
                One tit for another.

Will be a 9 point lead if we win our next 2.

                    Edit. Point been made.

I'd be happy with a draw to be honest. If we don't lose in both games then we're clear favourites barring major injuries or some kind of team wide existential crisis.

i know what you are saying - but City have problems at the back. Big problems. It is frustrating that Palace didn't give them a game (although the City goalie still had to make a couple of decent saves) and that Villa were asleep at the start of their second half at City.

It is almost like the 2 year wankfest about Peps team has given all of these other sides an excuse to wave the white flag. That and the fact that they haven't had a tricky domestic cup game in about 3 years is what really ticks me off.

So although we can say "i'd be happy to draw with them twice" - we really need to try to turn the screw on them at Anfield. Reasons:

                          1. Their defence is ****e without Laporte. And Rodri isn't helping it for them either.
                          2. If we were to lose to them at the Emptihad then it is essentially the same as 2 draws then anyway over a season
                          3. If we beat them at Anfield to go 9 points clear, then they have zero margin for error. Which will increase the likelihood of error.

We're a better side than City currently and should be looking to beat them at home. A draw wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'll be disappointed if we drop points, especially as we have such a good record against them.

On a plus note, this will be the 4th time in 5 years I'll be at the home game against them and last year was the one I missed and the only one we didn't win.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

If the season so far has taught me anything, it's that the good people of Est are really **** at maths.

I'd love us to win but they're an amazing side too so not allowing them to close the gap would do me fine.

I think we can beat them though.
