He needs to play more games in the position and learn it but his quick one touch passing and ability to keep the play ticking is something to behold. If he is able to consistently keep himself fit and play there more, he will be higher in that pecking order. He's 31 now I think and if he makes that position his own, he will extend his career.
    Are we winning?

      That is an absolute rocket.
We should keep him. I think he is ready now but whether he gets the amount of games he wants is debatable, but he would be a very good understudy to Salah or Mané. I hope he stays.

I’m not a fan of Lallana but credit where it is due he looked good playing deeper but these are friendlies. I’d worry about him learning the trade in actual competitive games as he’d be blown off the ball and overrun in a high tempo EPL game.

He can use the ball well and in fairness with the exception of one Cruyff turn into trouble he kept it ticking over. The thing is he won’t get the chance to make that position his own as Fab is light years ahead of him in terms of physicality whist being able t9 do all the other good things

He has to be worth more than that, we sold Ibe for £15m a few years back, and Wilson has a much better record than him. And the market has gone crazy since then as well.

I would keep him and look to give him experience by bringing him on for the last 20 or so in games where we are up a couple of goals, it also allows us to rest Mane or Salah.

In reality I think even if he didn't kick a ball for 12 months then we'd get the bones of 20m for him next summer. For me it makes sense to keep him. If he hasn't got a look in by Jan then maybe sell

                Hoever (17) , Elliott (16)

That is some recruitment. Both look like potential first team players already at a ridiculously young age. Not sure how you bring someone that young through though? Both look good enough to play some part in the squad this season, but they also need games. I'd be very careful about loaning them out as I feel sometimes it can backfire. Tricky one.

How did Sepp look? Hopefully have 3 absolute crackers on our hands.

I would assume that this season they will be splitting their time between working with the U23's and the main squad, to get used to the environment etc. I suspect both will play in Cup games but won't have much more involvement than that unless they put in some stellar performances. Then at the end of the season we will assess whether they go out on loan ext year.

I suspect that our main focus in developing players this year will be giving opportunities to Brewster and perhaps to a lesser extent Wilson if he stays.

Me too. I think it looks really bad when
the best midfielder we have produced since... Gerrard..? Appears to have no future at the club despite impressing at every chance he has been given (in friendlies and on loan).

May as well dump our entire youth team if we only produce one first team player every decade. We would do better signing other peoples kids (and have) and stick em in the u23s instead.

We should at least keep him until the January transfer window and see how he does. Madness to sell him this window when so many first team players haven't had proper preseason.

Decent statistical view of us for the up coming season

Another player who could easily benefit from a more midfield-focused ball progression approach is Naby Keïta. A long time favourite around these parts, so far Liverpool fans may be understandably underwhelmed by the Guinean’s performances. There was discussion about whether he was playing with an injury last season, lacking confidence or just having a hard time adapting to the Premier League. As frustrating as his fitness disrupted first season at Anfield often felt, on a purely stats basis, he looked fine. More then fine, actually, offering a lot in terms of progressing the ball forward while getting through a large volume of defensive work. When you split his season in terms of up until the end of January against February onwards, you get more of a sense of what’s happening, with Keïta finally hitting his stride in 2019 before another injury cut his season short.

What’s frustrating is that Keïta was brought straight back into action in order to play for Guinea at the Africa Cup of Nations. The good news is that he started the most recent friendly against Lyon and thus should be able to feature early in the season. But this is a repeated instance of him being brought back very quickly, and injuries could recur more and more. If this can be avoided, Liverpool have an outstanding player yet to be fully unlocked.

                            Ohhhh yes we do.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
