Yeah, I listened to James Pearce and he said bascially he has carte blanche to write whatever he wants, most importantly he has the time to develop stories or opinion pieces and he is not beholden to clicks or a insistent online news cycle. I will take quality over quantity any day and I am happy to pay for it.

yup - I got the US Version, but added the UK at $20 for the year, for £30 quid follow everything and it is good writing.

Where is Stevie in all this? Surely he’s the best person in the world to be giving the lad some advice?

I'd assume if he was he'd be doing so in private rather than adding to the public ****show the agent created.

I signed up a couple of weeks ago and so far it's been excellent

Yeah me to and I assume he’d have done it before this all got out of hand.

Gerrard should have a word with him. Hes still young enough to get pushed in the right direction. But that agent needs to go. ****ing vulture.

Definitely look at The Blizzard too then. Its really good. More historic/unusual stories though.

Remember how this site was founded by people outraged that a fat bloke could charge for what was available free elsewhere? What if that fat bloke had the money to make sure that it wasn't available elsewhere?

The Athletic are nasty, even if they've managed to sign up some nice people to do their dirty work for them.

“We will wait every local paper out and let them continuously bleed until we are the last ones standing,” Alex Mather, a co-founder of The Athletic, said in an interview in San Francisco. “We will suck them dry of their best talent at every moment. We will make business extremely difficult for them.”
I'm all for paying for quality journalism. And I subscribe to those that I enjoy reading. But I won't be subscribing to The Athletic. What's desperately needed is a quality sports daily in the UK along the lines of Marca, Gazetta dello Sport etc. but not some monopolistic ****s from Silicon Valley who want to kill local journalism as a main aim.

Feels like a mistake on his part. Really can't see him settling there. Different league, different language, different culture. I don't know enough about him, but feels like he'll be up against it.

Why wasn't he willing to show a little more patience at his boyhood club? He was progressing well and the unfortunate injury to Glatzel bumped him even further up the pecking order. I honestly don't get his thought process on this one.

I think he's burned his bridges here now unfortunately.
