Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid - Champions League Last 16 (2nd Leg)

UK Time: Wednesday 11th March at 8:00pm
Perth Time: 12th March at 4:00am
QLD Time: 12th March at 6:00am
    NSW/VIC Time: 12th March at 7:00am

    -------------------

    This is it!

So we're one nil down but that means nothing as they come to meet the power of Anfield, a place where great sides have been humbled and tossed aside on the way to Liverpool glory.

My score prediction - 3-1 to us (3-2 on aggregate)

My next round prediction should we get through - Borussia Dortmund

We will need Anfield to be bouncing.

I think Ali is going to be a huge loss. I can see us needing to score 4. If I was Atletico, then I'd shoot on sight.

Big call to include Henderson too. If fit it must be tempting for Klopp.

My ****s are runny already thinking about this game. Next 2 and a half days will be torture

Guarantee that these slippery cunts will be wasting time after 90 seconds too. Hopefully we get a half decent referee. Unlike that ****in prick from the first leg

        It's a huge game alright!

Saturday's win was huge in that we only have two games to go and so we can face Atletico with heads held high!

Robertson coming back could mean Milner starting in midfield alongside Gini and Henderson.

        I can't wait!

Atletico will be cheating from the first whistle... lets hope the ref is not an idiot like the last game.

My biggest concern is Adrian. He seems to be lacking confidence. The majority of saves he makes and attempted saves are punches. Even shots that are going into his midrift and chest are being punched or parried. Just catch the damn ball

My biggest concern is our midfield, the engine of our team has not been functioning, imperative to protecting the backline and the ball getting the ball out to fullbacks and to forwards. Adrian has made some mistakes but still has been making saves which is good. Must be hard to come back into the side after no minutes, especially when the team isn't playing well. Look at Ederson, a few games out of the side and he's all over the place.

We need to get back to our usual quick tempo to get through. We went through the gears well earlier in the season which allowed us to through or around low blocks

We just seem slow and laboured at the moment though. Even the 2nd half of the Bournemouth game was similar. Maybe that was us keeping our powder dry for this match

Having said that, we will get more chances than in Madrid, so it's good 2 of our front 3 got on the scoresheet against Bournemouth

Ref will be key as they will try every trick in the book from minute 1, time wasting winding people up and trying to get players sent off, probably lots of diving and rolling around on the floor. We need a strong ref who won't fall for any of that ****.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Yep. And biggest on the list for me is if we have to play behind closed doors. If that happens, we don't get the advantage and go out.

I doubt that's going to happen by Wednesday.

i would doubt that by Wednesday too. In reality a lot of fans travel for these games - some will be in Liverpool already - so if the game was played behind closed doors, then there will just be pubs ram-packed instead. Which will be just as dangerous.

Milner played brilliantly on Saturday - a real captains performance.

I think Klopp might play him on the bench though. Milly has had an injury recently. So not sure he will be able to play 90 mins - plus potential extra time (although i can't see ET to be honest). Especially if Henderson gets the nod - it would be very dangerous to play 2 or 3 midfielders who are back from recent injuries in a game like this.

So for that reason, surely Gini has to be first name on the midfield starting line up. If fit then i would say Henderson too. And then I think Jurgen will give Fabinho the nod. He hasn't been brilliant but this could be the game where he is back! Otherwise it is Oxlade / Keita - but i think Jurgen will keep both of those for the latter parts of the game if needed.

                          I can see:

                          ----------------------------------ADRIAN----------------------------------

                          TRENT------------GOMEZ---------------------VIRGIL-------------ROBBO

                          --------------------------------FABINHO-----------------------------------

                          ---------------HENDERSON--------------------GINI-----------------------

                          SALAH-------------------------FIRMINO-----------------------------MANE

With a bench containing Matip, Milner, Keita, Oxlade, Minamino, Origi and Longergan

I don't think our form is that good. But a high-pressure high-atmosphere European night under the Anfield floodlights might be just what this team ****in needs.

Leave everything on the pitch please Redmen.....

Depending on how fit Hendo is I’d be tempted to drop Fab and play Hendo, Gini, Ox.

I’d be tempted to play Hendo holding with Ox & Gini beside him with Millie , Fab & Naby on the bench. Ox gives us a goal threat from outside the box if they’re sitting deep constantly, which I’m expecting. If Hendo tires then Millie can come on to give us fresh legs.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.
