For some reason it keeps drawing me in. Can't help getting into it with people who bring up Heysel just to try and score points. Just looking at the post about the squad kneeling and the responses were horrendous. United and Chelsea put out similar statements and barely any rivals commented. Both team have issues with racism (Schmeichel & Terry) but they seem to be brushed under the carpet.

I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

I've had similar experiences with a number of Everton fans, they would have won the European Cup in 86, if it wasn't for the ban, they wouldn't have had to sell their best players and would have gone on to dominate English and European football for years to come. It always amazes me how much of a detailed alternative universe many they have created. They use Heysel and 'justice for the 39' as slogans for it. Alot of them don't care about the loss of life only the impact (and perceived impact) on them, and the fact that they can use it as a weapon against us. IMO this disrespects the memory of the people who died, but you can't explain this to them because you are just 'murdering red****e scum' in their eyes.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Going off Facebook is one of the greatest things I ever did!Originally posted by brightred View PostI deleted facebook for similar reasons. My life is better as a result.
Est is the only place I engage with now.
I left post Brexit.
Twitter and Instagram I like as I mainly follow horror film people and sports journo's. As mentioned above you can just start blocking people frm your feed and live in your own bubble.
The fact is football fans in general are ****s and social media gives them a platform to be so without reprisal.

Twitter is great fun for live tweeting about TV shows - Dragons Den, The Apprentice, University Challenge, Tenable, The Chase, Naked Attraction - all lively and good fun. Political or sporting debate with strangers just seems to be a feature that attracts the worst of society. Obviously good people in there too but no time for it despite occasionally getting suckered inLast edited by ChesterDave; 12-06-20, 12:47 PM.Football without Origi is nothing

This is true. My wife only uses twitter when she's watching TV and something comment worthy happens and she always checks out twitter for the live comments - people can be really sharp and funny and it's actually a really cool aspect of present day social media in that the comments can make the programme more enjoyable or cringey or whatever it may be. Maybe it's that you feel part of a larger group watching the same thing at the same time.Originally posted by ChesterDave View PostTwitter is great fun for live tweeting about TV shows - Dragons Den, The Apprentice, University Challenge, Tenable, The Chase, Naked Attraction - all lively and good fun. Re political twitter - I've said it elsewhere but something like 90% of twitter is generated by 10% of its users. It's not real life but it does spill over a lot.Felching ≠ Gerbilling
