      Wouldn't surprise me if Pep rested Sterling for this so he didn't have to line up to applaud his former team mates and especially Joe Gomez. Could imagine Sterling knocking on Pep's door asking to be benched for this one...
      If we get off to a fast start, it would be great to smash these out of sight... Pep surely can't let his preferred best 11 be run ragged at the risk of losing momentum or risking injury to any of them for the other cup competitions...
      I take it Sane is not playing due to the Bayern transfer? Has he gone as of the 1st July?

        I think that they will put their strongest 11 out, they will want to win this one badly, to show that the difference in quality isn't as wide as the points gap suggests and put a marker down for next season. We can't underestimate how much this will hurt them, remember when they were singing about us last year we had won nothing, since then we have won the CL, become the best side in the world and taken the PL title from them. In terms of trophies and the rest of this season it means nothing, but I think in terms of pride this could be their biggest game of the season.
        The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

                      Regarding the Guard of Honour, i take it that it is only done at the first club we play away after the title has been sealed? Or would City give us a Guard of Honour if the game was at Anfield too?
