No way they are banning them for the semi finals. It’s just pure tactical manoeuvring at this stage.

As of last night, I thought the idea of them suspending the competition sounded fanciful and beyond knee-jerk.
The idea of them excluding said clubs and running thr remainder of tournament with alternatives sounds even more ridiculous IMO.

Yip. It's very much a case of 'hold me back, hold me back' type of fight at the moment.Originally posted by McDermotX View PostAs of last night, I thought the idea of them suspending the competition sounded fanciful and beyond knee-jerk.

If UEFA do suspend Real, Chelsea and Citeh from the Champions League semi's then **** will have gotten real.
I'm inclined to believe it's all posturing until some concrete action happens.

great analogy!
Its definitely top level brinkmanship right now. Although the Super League remains totally voiceless. Other than Florentino Perez laughably claiming it has been created to save football.
I do think that the clubs that need it the most are Barca and Real and maybe Man U who must all have pretty unmanageable debt.
I am also fascinated by Bayerns position in all of this, easily the highest profile club to not have a say in things.Modifying post.

Not really a surprise given how clubs are owned, run and set up in Germany.
The one that surprised me was the lack of PSG amongst the initial list of names.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Probably a lot of truth to that actually given the Platini links (father and son), the lack of any FFP enforcement etc.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

Ajax, PSG and Porto.Originally posted by Scratch View PostSo, there's 12 clubs at the moment, but they seem to expect a further 3 to join as 'founding members' should this idea proceed...what 3 clubs do we expect them to be?

Ajax have already said they want no part of it.Originally posted by Scratch View PostI did think Ajax, not sure with Porto...PSG and maybe a surprise Bundesliga team...RB Leipzig maybe, after all they are already disliked in Germany
Benfica are apparently lobbying hard to be included.
