The opener for Gus Poyet's men was an excellent goal but it began with good fortune as Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas bundled his way past Chiedozie Ogbene, the Republic's best player on the night, down the left hand side.
However, once he was past the Luton Town attacker it was quality from there on, with Tsimikas delivering an outstanding, dipping cross that Giakoumakis rose well to meet with a bullet header that flew into the top corner, giving Bazunu no chance.
Tsimikas has never started more than two Premier League games in a row but if Robertson is out for a month, for example, he will be needed for four league games in succession.
Seems like from now until Xmas will define his LFC career, its always been questioned whether he could be a regular; now is his opportunity
The stat I quoted of him never playing more than 2 matches in a row is unbelievable considering how long he’s been with us. Shows that we’ve played Robbo to death
He totally can be a regular. I might go against the grain but I prefer him to Robertson. He always charges forward, unlike Rob who constantly passes back. And his crossing is better. Thats right I said it. And you'll see it soon!
