Speaking of CB’s for moment, with Lovren gone ( & Matip regularly injured ) who is our new No4 choice & can they really be trusted at this level? Van Den Berg? Phillips? Because right now with Matip out one of those guys will be on the bench & potentially playing a part in the Comm Shield in a few days time. Sure when Hendo is back We could play Fab there in CB or Gini could hold in Hendos absence too. But square pegs in round holes isn’t ideal heyMe, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Yes, I would think Fab is our fourth choice CB as things stand and he would do well, I'm sure, but then we weaken our MF options. Not ideal, but those are the risks you take when you aren't city or PSG or whathaveyou.
Although only one position, I think RB is a bit of a worry, as I'm not convinced Williams is ready to step in for Trent. We don't have the square peg options that we do at LB.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

Tbh no one is anywhere near the same level as Trent but yeah Neco does get caught out of position quite a lot & he would get targeted for sure. Millie or Hendo can cover there but yeah not ideal. The young Dutch lad is a natural RB too. Can’t think of his name thoughMe, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

Hoever right?
I remember how often TAA got targeted when he came into the team, and the debates around whether to play him against City and Manure when they were going to aim those long diagonal balls at him for Sane/Rashford to run onto
This is par for the course with introducing young players into the first team, especially young defenders. The only way they learn (like everyone else) is by making mistakes, unfortunately.
No other way to introduce academy lads in though, so we are either OK with it or we aren't...

Milner & Gomez have covered RB before and are definitely square peg options but it's not ideal as we always see a massive drop off when either Trent or Robbo doesn't play & yeah Williams has a long way to go.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostYes, I would think Fab is our fourth choice CB as things stand and he would do well, I'm sure, but then we weaken our MF options. People seemed to think Neco was going to be the second best rightback in the league, last week. Id rather he went on loan and we brought in a more experienced squaddie like we did for left back. The role is too important to have someone so raw as second choice.
Our defence is already pretty young, but lose VVD and Matip, and we have a backline averaging very early 20s?
I imagine we will bring in another more mature centreback. In the beginning, Fowler created the Heaven and the Earth.

Klopp always play TAA. Even when he rests him, he brings him on as a substitute. Does my nut in, but there we go.
The key will be for Williams to keep us somewhat of an attacking force. Not quite a replication of TAA's play, but enough that we still have a threat, which I feel isn't there with Gomez or Milner at RB. Sure, he'll get caught out on occasions, but he'll learn through experience, and training with some extraordinary players.
Klopp likes to go with a risk and reward approach. He'll know some players are weak in some areas, but their contributions toward our overall game make them a good choice. That's what I feel Williams is. A player hungry to learn, and contribute toward our overall style, so the drop off isn't as great as it would be with other players there.
