He will take the ball absolutely anywhere. Amazing. Always seems to pick the right pass. Looks strong as well. He doesn't get pushed off the ball.

I guess his potential is why we don't need to be looking at the likes of Havertz for £90m.

Shoot, was hoping Koumetia might have been the next big, quick CB. Our style cannot accommodate a slow CB. Isn't VdB also on the slowish side?

Alan Hansen wasn’t very quick either as far as I remember. Some of these young players haven’t finished developing anyway, and some elements of their game will change over the years.

Reading of the game, quality on the ball and defensive ability is more important than having someone who is quick but not much else to their game. If you don’t expose yourself in the first place you’ll be fine.

I haven’t noticed that Koumetio was slow or anything. His ability on the ball and his aerial prowess is good for his age.

I'm not so sure about that. He looked languid but he covered the ground at a reasonable rate IIRC.

Not sure if he is actually slow, I thought he was just over-confident that he'd get there first and was thinking more of his next pass. What got up my nose is that when they subsequently scored he didn't put his head in his hands like he should have

His heading looked good and I thought his passing was great. Probably just a teenage brainfart for the goal.
