    Summer clear out

Who do we think is off in the summer?

Matip and Keita for injury reasons.
    Ox

Depends on how much we can get for them

    Shaq too I reckon

Gini obviously. That's six reasonable quality players that will need six equivalent replacements. Quite a high number for one window? Plus we still need a quality RB cover without losing Neco.

      Edit: forgot Phillips for Car.

Can't seeing us offloading Matip to be honest.

Aside from the guys out on loan who we have been looking to offload for a while Karius, Wilson and probably Grujic. I think Adrian is on his way, Origi too.

Despite doing well when he has come in I think Phillips will be on his way too, he would have gone last year if we could find a buyer, and we bring in a CB such as Kabak permanently or someone else. Phillips' stock will probably never be higher and baring another freak injury season like this one he is unlikely to get games.

I think we might be running out of patience with Matip's injuries, so I wouldn't be surprised he he was marked for the exit, whether this summer is the time to sell hopefully coming back from a long term injury who knows, as I said with Phillips I guess it depends if we bring someone in on a permanent basis. From a financial point of view it might maximise the fee if we wait until he's recovered from this injury...

The other players who have something to prove are Keita, Ox and Shaqiri. As it seems we are toughening Keita up I doubt he will leave, but he really has to start getting on the pitch regularly and putting in good performances. Shaq I like, but it seems he has been on the fringes of the exit for a while, the situation this year has seen him get games but when everyone is available he's almost certainly a squad player. I think that probably comes down to him. I'd be happy to keep him if he doesn't mind the role of squad player, otherwise it makes sense to let him go. Ox seems very injury prone and hasn't been close to the level of when he first came in, I wouldn't be surprised to see him go.

Wijnaldum is almost certainly gone but that's out of our hands

Summary I think Wijnaldum, Origi, Phillips, Adrian and possibly one of Ox or Shaq will go, Matip if he recovers and we can find a buyer but I wouldn't be surprised if that was next Jan.

            Adrian
            Karius
            Philips
            Neco Williams
            Rhys Williams
            Milner
            Naby Keita
            Ox
            Origi
            Taki
            Wilson
            Grujic
            Ojo
            Woodburn

They could all leave without anyone noticing or could be easily and relatively cheapy replaced.

Gini will be going and will need a big money replacement. And I have a feeling that one of the front three will leave.

Have the same feeling, and think it may be one of Firmino or Mane.

Yiu can't decimate a squad like that, but certainly these have no future at the club

                  These should remain as squadies
                  Milner
                  Naby Keita
                  Ox

Get an offer & these will be off
                  Grujic
                  Origi

                  Loans for
                  Philips
                  Neco Williams ??

I don't think there's any point in loaning out Rhys Williams. He's simply not good enough and i don't think he ever will be.

I think Neco Williams may have blown his chance. He played a few games last season and at the start of this season when TAA was out. He wasn't particularly effective, especially this season. TAA's form hasn't been the best but Neco hasn't come close to replacing him.

I agree with most of that, I don't see the point in loaning Phillips he'll be 24 next month, either keep him as a squad player or sell, I think the latter is more likely

It depends if Klopps decided to extend - He's contracted until 2024, If he extends to 2026 I reckon he will will do a full on rebuild.

If covid hadn't off hit I think a few may have been on their way anyway

Another point - Our wage bill is 2/3rd highest in the country with expensive renewals to take place over the coming months - their defo needs to be a trim

The youngsters aren't going to free up much in wages, Wijnaldum is on £75k according to reports, other squad players such as Origi, Ox, Shaq and Matip will be the significant squad players on a decent wage. So again they are probably places to consider making cuts if necessary.

The other big consideration is homegrown quota, I have seen Milner mentioned, but he is playing alot and counts as homegrown / association trained, so I don't see him moving on unless he wants to leave. The home grown club trained hopefully shouldn't be an issue but might come into play when considering who might be loaned out

Keita is the only one I'd definitely sell not because he's the worst player but because we could get decent money for him and reinvest.
Not sure about the other names, yeah they're not good enough or injury prone but our squad is fairly weak as it is.
