Was talking to the missus about Grealish last night watching MOTD.

He's a fabulous passer of the ball, his weight of pass is nearly always spot on. He can carry the ball too really well and drags defenders out wide, not sure he's a Firmino replacement but he'd certainly be a welcome addition. He'd cost a bomb though.

Another quality cf would be nice too. We do need a clear out though.
Wijnaldum is going too, even if we accept that Thiago was his replacement getting rid of Naby, Ox and Shaq in one summer is a big change. We would need to bring one or two players in to replace them. As I have said before, I think we are putting the effort into 'toughen' Keita up so I think we see him having a long term future here.

I think Shaq is a great little player who was always brought in as a squad player, if he is happy with that role I don't think we are finding anyone better, yes the injuries are frustrating. Ox for me is probably the one whose future is most uncertain, and with a potentially high resale value I wouldn't be surprised if he goes, the complication is the fact that he counts as homegrown for quotas so that could complicate things somewhat.

Matip is 50/50 I think it depends on making the Kabak deal permanent or finding someone else as along term replacement. I think whether Davies is deemed good enough for a 4th choice LFC defender also comes into this decision. But Matip as good a player as he is seems top of the crock list and given he came in on a Bosman is almost certainly on high wages and could be an option to cut the wage bill.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I wonder if we have Elliott lined up for that role long term.

That's the thing about Gini, hardly ever injured. Ox and Keita are never fit and on big wages so they are not providing any value for money. Matip and Shaq on decent wage too and also always injured. I wouldn't be surprised to see at least two of the above going in the summer. Hopefully anyways as we need to free up cash and refresh the side.

Alisson - the guy is a liability.
Van Dijk - never plays. Get rid.
Salah - can't pass 5 yards. **** off to Madrid. Useless.
                Mane - over the hill.
Firmino - the Brazilian Darren Bent.
Trent - his two good seasons were a fluke. He's been found out.
Robertson - too old, legs gone.
Thiago - always getting booked. ****e.

                Eddie Howe is also available.

If we fail to get a CL place then we might need to replace players that won't leave for CL. Harsh but I'd say there's a chance Salah and/or Mane go knocking on Klopp's door.

Don't think so. LFC is a brilliant place to play football and with the pandemic, not sure there will be sufficient money around to buy any of our players that we wouldn't want to sell.

If we don't get CL next year, then we don't get CL next year. Bit of a pain in the arse but we would rise again.

I am pretty sure we will get CL next year though. ****, if Kabak is half decent, then we might even qualify as european champions.

I think we're possibly nearing needing a mini-rebuild. You can't keep a near identical starting XI for years and still stay on top. It's very rare for that to happen.

I think in fairness signing Thiago, Jota and Kabak is the start of that, but we'll need more.

As for who leaves I'm not sure. There's only a small handful of clubs someone like Mane/Salah would want to sign for. Can those teams even afford it given Covid? I doubt it.

I agree it's Firmino that really needs replacing most but I'm just not sure how it happens. Hopefully selling Origi and a few fringe players gives us enough money to sign an up and coming (cheap) forward to at least challenge him.

I think Firmino is the most under threat - and I'd propose a change of emphasis, looking at a mobile target man, in the Dzeko mould. I've no idea who this person is btw.

By introducing a focal point, we can go longer to this person and they can be the one which then feeds Mane and Salah. Those two (or Jota) tuck in a little more. Leaving more space for the fullbacks to do what they do best.

Other benefits of a 6 ft 4 striker would be felt on set-pieces and early fullback crosses into the box for him to get his head on.

                                .
God yes! Without Virgil and Matip if feels like we're never going to score from a corner/set-piece ever again.

That and someone that can bang in a free-kick please. Also feels like forever since we had someone that could regularly score from one (Coutino and Suarez were wonderful at them).
